View Full Version : Trolling = Locking

When someone posts a message that is clearly designed to start a fire where people are already simmering, the design becomes very obvious. The intent of this trollingf is not to "praise Caesar" but to raise the ire of some people. Happily, for the poster/troll, they took the bait and would continue to do so if the thread was not locked. It was a golden opportunity for the disgruntled to, once more, repeat their expressions of dislike for the RS product.

I have been here only about three weeks and I have seen most of the stuff more than once. I am sure that RSDL has a very clear understanding of some customer's opinions. Thus the question is, what good does it do to endlessly repeat acidic criticism?

Let us assume that the RSDL staff believes that they can overcome the premature release problems and develop a very acceptable product. But, if they are constantly pummeled by nasty remarks just maybe, someone will say "I have had enough". The product's progression could falter or disappear as the company is driven toward total frustration. Only the cannibalistic, who believe that such an outcome is a public service, would like to see the whole thing fold.

I would vote to let the poor _______ alone for awhile so they can get on with their work. If, after a reasonable time period, sufficient progress has not been made then perhaps some further critique would be appropriate.

Which seems to be exactly what many people here want.

RS has a ton of potential. They are supporting it. They will help you with your issues if you ask them.
What they are dealing with, here, is people who are frustrated with the missing, the not working, and the complicated processes. It will either be worked out or it won't. I get the impression that RSDL wants it to work for the long term, so I will be patient. Definitely tailored to European railroading, hence the U.S. discontent.
One problem with moving forward towards resolving the mysteries, is that the possibility of having a civilized discourse, here, does not exist. It is perfectly acceptable to express frustrations, desires, and dissatisfactions as far as I'm concerned. You might actually get assurances, help, or satisfaction by doing so.
The problem lies with a certain few, who do not have the sim installed any longer, or who have never bought it. Why on earth they would even be bothering to follow these discussions baffles me. If it is because they take pleasure in flaming and piling on the negatives then they are, in my opinion, breaking the forum rules of conduct. If they have other hidden agendas then the same applies.
I am not the only one here getting frustrated with these people. Please, please, allow the rest of us a place to discuss RS.
Maybe these people were baited over the last few days, but if that is the case, I am sure the baiting was done out of utter frustration. Which of the people involved with this matter truly need to be threatened with banishment?

The best way that this would be overcome would be for RSDL to say:

"Patch #2 will address these issues:
1. ...
2. ...
3. ...
At this time we don't have the resources to do ... but these will be scheduled in Patch #3.
At a later date Patch #4 ... ."

Most of us would be satisfied with this.

And, damnitall, is an announcement like this all that hard for RSDL to do?

That would be nice, and seems like a fair request.

Hi,

We are still working on a number of issues, some will be resolved others will not be.

We will release more information once we have locked the code (due to be completed soon) and go into testing.

Derek
