Hi,
One of my part time distractions is attempting to Convert a MSTS model by decapod over at uktrainsim into Rail Simulator. Anybody interested in such an idea might like to have a look over at http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=219&t=82986

I figured trying to get it to be a scenery object would be a good first step, so far so good. I have gone through the hierarchy and done all the labeling so as to be able to export an ****.IGS file. The model looks ok in 3dCanvas and all texture files have been converted to ****.ace. Off to Blueprint Edit we go to set up a simple scenery blueprint, up comes a delightful error message...............

Would anybody have any clues on this one?

Hi it looks like your texture does not have a name, that is why the blueprint is crying.
Are you sure it is the correct .ace format?

I do not know how it works from canvas, it also could be the way that exports.

regards
Derek

hi,
I did some Canvas research and it seems theres some sort of interaction going on in the "Environment Map" area to do with how it is handled or not handled in the game compared to the way Canvas currently handles it hence the error message looking for an ace file name with no name. It is all WAY above my head. My solution was to eliminate any reference to Environment Map in Canvas. The consequences of which, I have no idea yet but I have a GWR Autocoach, courtesy of decapod, sitting at Slough(as a scenery object) awaiting some motive power to provide a service to Windsor. Now for the blueprint challenge ;-). As this is definitely non powered then I am figuring on using a coach blueprint.

I am certainly enjoying the many detours that Rail Simulator is giving me along the learning journey. I will post some pics when I get back to the game PC later
