Ahh, Here we are in the 2008 Hurricane Season, with its first Potentially land falling tropical storm!
As have been for the past several years, this map should update, whenever NOAA updates its track maps..

I'd have to agree with you. It seems like most storms that start out that far out in the ocean doesn't make it to land. Now if it starts closer to Cuba or in the Gulf of Mexico, then it'd make it.

Possibly....But it is in that "groove" where you really can't tell. It could go in any directions. But I agree, a sharp right turn is most likely.
Here is the computer modal data...

sharp right turn indeed, I'd wager up the 80th meridian.

Paul,
Note the UK model is the only one sending it far enough south to even get to the 80th. If it makes landfall, the outer banks or north make a much more significant statistical target. I would say it is still less than 50% chance of landfall at this point. You may have some folks wanting to take your wager..hehe (meteorological card counters so to speak).:p

I used to track hurricanes several years ago!!
Word of advice, never trust what the models are showing past 24 hours! BTW, GFS and GFDL is one of the best models to use for tracking hurricanes.
BTW, NHC's official site is:
