WARNING
The latest Windows Update KB951748 - for Windows XP at least - stops Zonealarm connecting to the Internet. Do not install it - if you already have you won't see this on the affected computer, but you might pick it up elsewhere.

The easiest fix is to uninstall that update for the time being. Another fix involving removing the Zonealarm database is posted here http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=cfg&message.id=52727 .
