After all the adding deleting aliasing etc now when Msts loads in the consist editor it freezes up when I go to click on steam,box,diesel etc but when I use the activity editor edit part I have no problems in choosing any eng for editing etc any clues?

Sounds like a bad consist. Check to see if any consist you've been working on doesn't show up in the scroll list for selecting consists. Either you are missing a component of the consist or there is an error with the component you had been working on.
