I'm getting an error after installing the route and trying to open in the RE-

Error reading editor object selection file FJ&G.ref - Line: 5145. My .ref isn't that long for this route. I have the latest x tracks and new roads. All my other routes are fine.

I haven't seen to much on the board about this route.

Hi Charlie,

I see you are trying to open the route in RE, have you ever opened the route in MSTS to see if it worked? I've had people change things before ever trying to open the route as it was shipped and then run into problems cause by replacing thing without first opening the route to make sure it's working for them, hard to help when they do that.

Make sure your new roads are v3.20 standard and xtracks are 3.18 pr above. I've had someone contact me with a simular problem and it turned out he installed BIN 1.8, a beta and when he went back to 1.7 stable his problems went away.

Might want to reinstall everything and make sure it's working as it's shipped, pushing 1300 copies out there and less then a handful of problems so far.

You wouldn't have run the route through a pre v7 Route-Riters first would you?

Hi Paul-

I was getting an MSTS launch failure, then decided to try the RE, as well as the AE. Later, when ran through (did not compact) in RR version 7.089, go no errors at all (kind of rare occurance in of itself). I'm using Bin 1.8 and train store.

X-Tracks is : XTracks v3.20 standard edition setup (xtrack, x-track, x-tracks).

New Roads is:V4.0.

It looks like a nice route. I can also try as a mini route, like I did for Feather River, since I also had problems launching that one via Train Store.

Hi Charlie,

As I said in the readme elements in the route were not compatable with Route-Riter, I'm guessing that's what caused your problem. Since the route was released Mike Simpson changed something in R-R that made the program ignore the elements that were causing the error opening the route after getting the 'all clear' from R-R but you'll need to install v7.0.94 or above, available in the library.

You may still get errors because of your BIN 1.8 as one other has reported.

Yes, read your readme-decided at first not to use it (RR), only gave it a try after RE and AE failed, along with the MSTS attempt.

Also, just went back to bin 1.7 after reading your thought on that plus others, still no launch sucess. I haven't tried the mini route yet.

But, now that I am back to 1.7, and, since I have RR'd through it, I will delete it and unzip from scratch...

Hi Charlie,

When you installed the route did you also open the consist folder that came with the route, copy and paste the three consist in the main game consist folder? If not the route will not open in MSTS at all.

Yes, Paul...I did that also.

I just now deleted the route and reinstalled, same blue border with black center, send error report to Bill's folks in the Pacific Northwest ?

Hi Eric,

Not sure what to tell you. Out of nearly 1300 people who have downloaded the route about ten have had problems. Most have missed something in the readme, a few have missed downloading something like BIN. Once they have finished following the instructions they have all been able to open and run the route.

Not sure if this would make any difference in your situation but you might try inslalling the route to a folder you create in you download folder, then manually move it to the Route folder in the sim. Probably should uninstall the route first though.

I did a little reading about the other problem reports and saw one that sounded like your problem.

Wayne installed xtracks 4.0 and his problem went away. Not sure why that would be as I used xtracks 3.18 while drawing the route but it worked for him, maybe it would work for you too.

Paul,

I unzipped x-tracks 3.20 to my desktop, then copied the latest T-section to my master Tsection folder inside the main global folder, then directed train-store to use this tsection with this route only, and the route runs NOW.

It was really worth it, a nice route indeed.

Thanks for taking the time with me.

Hi Charlie,

Glad you got it to work finally. One other had trouble with TrainStore but I've never used it so have no idea what it does or doesn't like about my route to be of any help.
