msts add-on route limit

i have added 19 routes to msts in addition to all of the original routes that came with msts. i have also used conbuilder to create about 20-30 new consists. i am running xp with 2 gb of ram.

is there a set amount of add-on routes msts can handle??

As far as I know, the only limit as to how many routes you can have is your hard drive capacity. However, there seems to be a limit as to how many consists one can have. I believe it is around 700, after that, MSTS starts to act funny.

Install and use Trainstore, and the funnies go away - you run one activity or explore or route at a time so you don't hit the limits.

Th number of routes you can have in 1 MSTS install depends on the size of your HD. You easily can have more than 50 routes in one install without having problems ( I have around that number at the moment in my install.) It only cost you much longer time to load MSTS wen you have so many routes.

The number of consists you can have depends on the strength of your system. Some people cannot have more than 700 consists, some other can have from 1000 upto 1400 consists without having a crash of MSTS. My own maximum is 1000 without a crash.
