I was just thinking about how much graffiti is on railroad cars, at least 1 in three have fallen victim to an aeresol can these days and it gave me an idea. What if RRs let these people paint the cars. I mean as long as it was in a creative non-offensive way. You have to give the people who do graffiti on cars credit for having artistic talent. I actually enjoy sitting at a crossing and trying to figure out what the big blue and yellow letters tagged to a coal hopper say. I just think if kids want to paint the railroad cars, they should let them. general guidlines of course such as no rude or offensive content, and no covering of important data on the cars or the company logo. I believe it would make for a fun colorful world in railroading. I'm not talking about letting these kids go spray on the brand new box cars fresh from a factory, but the ones that have been in service for years that are now so faded you can't tell what shade of blue or green they were and rusted halfway down the side. Of course they would have to a certain section of a rail yard to park the cars they can paint to keep the people painting them out of danger, maybe let park 3 cars at a time for 3 days or something. I figure it would solve a lot of problems. it would be a sort of reverse psycology. tell them it's ok to do it, and the risk and danger is gone so they would pretty much stop doing it, because it's no longer illegal, it's not fun anymore, it will keep kids out of dangerous rail yards and dangerous situations. just an idea i thought would be neat. I know it's never going to happen, but I'm bored and thought i'd voice my opinion. i figure kids who are doing this are bored, or teens from unstable homes just trying to make a voice and be heard. they are trying to tell people who they are. They just don't have the means to do it constructivly so they take the options they do have. Of course you have your kids just making trouble, but most of them are probably teens with no clear future of hope in their lives looking for a means to escape, wether it be physically or mentally. I think i wrote enough for one post sorry. but just think and i mean really think about what i wrote before you post your reply. now bear in mind, i'm not calling it right, it is very dangerous and illegal to do this, I'm just voicing an opinion. but like i said please think hard about what i'm saying before you post a reply on this I think you will understand my meaning if not my logic behind this. thanks for reading this obscenely long post of mine!

It will never happen. Reason, the "Leaches." (lawyers.)

It is also possible that the practice of "tagging" may come to an end in a few years if spray cans are legleslated illegal and are no longer manufactured.

Maybe you should let them blow off steam by tagging your car or your house. Just my opinion, of course.<g>

Let the kids BUY their own RR cars and they can paint them any way they want.

All I can say is. Stop complaining. Complaining won't make it all go away. Yes, tagging is disgusting, and most of the time represents gangs, but we can't do a thing to stop it.
At least sitting here and crabbing about it won't get far.

Nice opinion. But what does this have to do with MSTS?

This should go in the general forum. Or maybe even better on The Yard forum, where just about any topic can be written about over there.

I hate it in real life, but love it in the sim on every few cars, because I strive for absolute realism, and unfortuantely that is absolue realism.
I thank the authors who provide all freeware, especially those who provide clean and tagged cars.
