I found a picture of a Swiss steam locomotive (or is it electric?). Anyway, it's a very odd locomotive. It doesn't have a firebox, yet it makes steam. And yes, it did exist. This is no photoshop job.

If someone was to make this for either MSTS or Rail Simulator, would it be classified as an "Electric" or a "Steamer"?

It's just a conventional steam loco used to move coaching stock from the sidings to station.
Many railways used steam locos for this in order to pre-heat steam heated coaching stock.

The pantograph is to power electric heated coaching stock.

According to this site http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/swisselec/swisselc.htm The panto was used to replace coal during the war, coal being in short supply.

Correct! The pantograph, was used to run a heating element, in the firebox, in lieu of coal.

It is a electric, steam locomotive.. A wartime expedient.

Pretty much all of Europe had some very ugly and weird looking steam locomotives. Except for England and the rest of the UK. I think the UK has the best steam locomotives in this world hands down.:D

Yes indeed. That crazy contraption was one of those crazy steamers built with a heating element powered by none other than electric, in place of the firebox. That was one of the oddest steamers ever made. I would call it an electro-steamer.

I'm not trying to be rude, or start an argument, but this more or less struck me as de-ja-vu... but didn't we have a thread like this awhile ago? I'm not trying to come across as sarcastic or anything, but I'm just trying to figure out if my mind is in whack or not :P

If there was and it was as recent as a couple of months ago. Do show us. I haven't seen it.

And then it would be argued that not to resurrect an old thread. So when he started a new one, he did it right. Where do we draw the line of starting a new thread to stop resurrecting old threads? To making accusations of asking the same thing, since it was from an old thread already? Hmmm?

And their was one much earlier than that, I posted about it then...

But, I don't consider this thread a repost, in the usual sense..Things are bound to repeat at times. ;)

Like I said, I didn't mean this as an attack or anything... I was just wondering if my mind wasn't going fuzzy... I tried doing my own search last night, but I couldn't find anything similar...

I've seen a couple of threads on this website about bizarre steam, but I've known about most of those engines--including the electric-steam. I used one of the websites (titled "Extreme Steam") for a project in high school.
