Hi, I have made a working swing bridge, a manual switch indicator, a mile post, and am working on a loco. Texturing them properly is holding me back from releasing them. I would be willing to try and make something, you all feel is needed, if someone would be willing to texture it.
Thought I'd offer.

What are you making them with?

I mostly have been building in sketch-up because I know it, but not exclusively. Just trying to spur things along. :D Seems to be a lot of re-skinners around and I need some skinning. Still have some finishing touches to do. Not great models I know, but I'm trying, and having fun trying. I've been trying to learn the ins and outs of texturing the last few days, so I will eventually get somewhere. Please my self at the least.
There seemed to be a call for more community content in the closed thread, so I am just trying to do my part.

That is some NICE looking stuff!

I had a heck of a time texturing, too. I'm still not very good at it...

Thanks! That is a nice compliment. I am fairly new at modeling and learning new tricks every day. I guess I will figure out some kind of texturing skills sooner or later, and get some models out. At the very least someone else can make them look better.
My offer is still open. I will start the ball rolling and build a new wagon if someone will skin it.

I'm not sure if you can get it out of sketchup, though?

I am blessed with the access to do so and have used other programs to export them. I have used that access, and have placed these models into RS (the ALCO being the exception). I have even made that bridge swing on demand. :D

COOL! Well, like I say, I'm not much for texturing, but there are some experts around here.

Hi,

Models are looking great!

Currently there is no exporter for sketch up, however i can provide the plugin/exporter header information if anyone wants to write one.

I'm no coder so don't talk 1's and 0's

regards

Derek

Hi Derek,
I think this is for discussion directly with someone from developers of SU. But posibility to eport models from SU into RS is great idea. SU is imho perfect for building structures and easy to use. I'm trying to build few bridges in SU, I hope I will be able to get them in game.

If somebody could code an exporter, that would maybe allow me to get a few scenery items into the sim, and possibly get somewhere with a few locomotive models I did for the fun of it. Sketchup's got a pretty loyal following with some MSTS scenery object wizards, so making it compatable with RS would be a big help. Thanks for the offer, Derek!

Id be willing to create texture maps for those, i cant apply them to the model but i can create the textures themselves.

I would be able to apply the textures if it were with 3dsmax. So, thats the only way I can do so.
