Like in car games where you have a crash model of a vehicle and an explosion modell ? So that you can see a part of the train damaged but not derailed perhaps,or derailed ;and another exploded. And I think it will be great if minor catastrophs won't cause derailments, just vizual train damages and you could continue to drive it. Also damage of the tracks that can be seen perhaps ?
Will there be people moving too and railroad workers working ?

"This is the worst news of the week."
Stay with Halo or Doom, or whatever floats your boat.
I railroad for a living. (Engineer.) Last thing I want to see when on the job is what you described. I certainly don't want to simulate that much reality when relaxing with a hobby. Trust me: It is unfun to hurry out an engine door and onto the ground once stopped to see if the people in the vehicle you just collided with are dead, maimed, whatever. Been there, done that.
Thank you to the MSTS2 team for leaving the carnage out.

Look I have explored this phenomenon. I have a friend policeman who makes mod for Mafia. He enjoys to kill the cops in the game...He revealed to me it's not connected with reality,it's just another fun world.
Also I didn't mean dead people but just bent sheet iron and a bit deformed locs. That's all. And it's not intended for the fun of the crash but for better realism when you derail incidentally or crush into another train somehow. Because this happens anyway in the game. And what do you prefer -like now cars entering into cars like cheese or good deformation models of bent waggons etc. I think it's art.
I have a question for you -why would a loc engineer spend another 2-3 hours a day in unreal trains when he has the real thing every day ?! :)

Thats like saying Im a real airline pilot and I dont want ot see crashes in MSFS because I go to work everyday fearing crashing. The option to crash should be there. It doesnt mean someone would do this on purpose, although they would and it would end up on youtube but look who does that. 12 year old kids. I know NS or any other RR wouldnt want a game to ship out only to see a NS loco smashing into a car at a crossing on youtube. Like I said before the option to do so should be there by 3rd parties after the game is released. I like how everyone wants realism and when it gets to the nitty gritty of RRing it becomes a hobby. Railroading isnt a hobby but standing on the outside looking in is. Maybe they can create a hobby mode :) Also, if you fear jumping out of a door and seeing mangled bodies in a sim I feel sorry for you. I dont think he meant that. If the fear of hitting people and all that bothers you guys so much why not find other work? YOu dont work as a doctor if you fear blood do you? Im sure someone here does though.

First, I want the creators of this sim to work on things that are important to a rail sim like real world operations and not work on something like the graphics of how a train would look like if it derails or not.
I already went through that with the latest rail sim that was released a few months ago which it seems like they were more concerned about eye candy than real world operations and even after 2 patches and months of it being released. They still cant get the AI working properly or the headlights to work properly.
Like I stated, All I want is a train sim that is like real world operations. Is that too much to ask? Maybe so......

Id like to clarify that I dont think we need explosions as mentioned in the inital post or even visual damage for that matter.

I wouldn't mind minor visual damage but explosions. No. If there were failures of components if you did something wrong like in fs would be fine because bad things happen sometimes. But TS2 is a Train Simulator not a Train Demolition Derby.

A derailment system like RailSim would be perfectly sufficient, mabye a option to remove your derailed consist afterwards. We dont need any explosions, carnage, fires, etc, but i definetly dont want it to be like trainz where trains bump into each other and couple....

On you tube somewhere is a vid clip showing damage to a house roof from a piston that flew through the side of the engine casing/hood and crashed through the roof of a trackside house. I don't want to see that in the sim, but it woulde be interesting to have other effects, such as engine failures, etc, having cause and effect.
Cheers Bazza
