Before you blow up and get mad about the game, read this;

and
http://forums.flightsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?t=273811
Read all of the posts in these two threads and you might find a cure to your problem. I too was frustrated two nights ago when my game wouldn't loadup and start. Took me a day to figure out what went wrong and I managed to get it going again.

Strange... that almost seems like a problem with your computer than MK2.

Jessie,
Don't forget, dynamic brakes are only effective at certain speeds, and they have a time delay before they kick in (8 seconds for ES44). I thought mine weren't working too, but they were.

Reading the above post from Trainman_122 gave me another idea, already having found that having a CD/DVD drive emulator running at the same time as trying to run RS MARK-2 with it's RailSimEditor does not let me run the original ALPS route on my WIN-XP computer.
Shutting it down and all the ALPS works.
I also have no other programs running in the background, other than a Screenshots grabber, especially not the INTERNET and associated with it programs.
Worth trying to shut down all running programs, including the INTERNET, all those who still have problems running the MARK-2 updated RS ?
The MARK-2 RailSim.exe running RS with the RS DVD in it's proper drive and no other programs should also allow all of the ALPS to run on other WIN-XP computers.
Can't comment on VISTA, RS not being installed in mine.
O t t o
P.S.: This The Instruction at .... seems to be the common denominator with reported problems and points to a problem in RAM, which should give RSDL a clue what could be causing it ?

Id say he has more to worry about than at what speeds dynamic brakes work at :) Its going to have to be one of those things where you back track and see what caused your problem such as anti-virus itself or god knows what but if you say your anti virus blocked something then thats a place to start

Good thing I backed the the whole game before I installed MK2;) I reloaded the game again + Mk1 patch and threw the my backed up files over the installed ones now am back where I was. works good:) am not touching that Mk2 patch I thought MK1 patch was useless MK2 even more useless! KRS better get a Better beta tester guy or maybe we are the beta tester? KRS should tell us what their working on? updates or future updates like your really in the dark in what their doing if you look at Train Sim 2 from Microsoft they give you updates on what their working on.

If your happy with MK1 and it works fine and you've little need for dynamic brakes or "improved" signals, just leave well enough alone. I for one am not going to MK2!!!!!
As far as Microsoft's MSTS2, you may wait a year or two to see it released. They are busy working on a totally new operating system to replace Vista, and probably not release MSTS2 until that is out. Meanwhile RS is a really good sim if you keep away from MK2.

The next question is: will new routes developed with MARK-1 work in MARK-2 and not have problems like the ALPS had ?
I am saying "Had", it's next update said to have fixed them ! ;)

I agree. This way we know what to expect but maybe they play it by ear themselves? Maybe they dont even know what will come out of the updates and they just give a little here and fix a little of this and of that, who knows. For a six month wait Im kind of disappointed that more wasnt fixed. My display still doesnt work in the ES44.

Yeah, thats a great question. What if someone makes a route and then in future update releases it affects that route? Dont want to get into what ifs but Id hate to see these guys release something that wont work in lets say another six months when the next patch is released :) Im joking ... ok no Im not.

....improved signals ?? hmmm....
Apparently not from a US standpoint. I checked all the US signal scripts, and none have newer "modified" dates on them. Methinks the US scripting remains unchanged. I see where they have worked on the EU signals. Perhaps they did some work on the core program code to affect the US side, but the release notes doesn't show it.
I have a feeling if we want US signals updated, someone from this side of the pond is going to have to do it, someone who has a lot of knowledge of US signaling.
