Hi !
Mike Simpson having found the cause of why his route had problems under MARK-2, that however seems not to be the reason why the original ALPS crashes MARK-2 RS and not my ALPS-OTTO copy of it, the latter using the same add-on assets as the original, but not the add rolling stock, running only the Class 166 DMUs.
Found something strange happening this morning.
After switching on my WIN-XP computer for the first time and starting my installed into the Registry updated with MARK-2 MAIN RS with the MARK-2 RailSimEditor.exe, all the original ALPS scenarios as well as the ALPS-OTTO copy could be run !
After loading my CD/DVD drive emulation manager the original ALPS had again problems but not the ALPS-OTTO. So I ejected the emulated RS DVD which made no difference, but after switching off the computer and starting it again all of the original ALPS worked alright again !
There appears to be something in the MARK-2 RailSimEditor.exe code which does not like a CD/DVD drive emulator running, the drive not reporting that it is in fact the installed hardware CD/DVD drive.
So I stopped the emulator's executables running with the Task Manager and all of the original ALPS worked again in the MARK-2 RS !!!
NOT FUNNY, RSDL !!!
I and no doubt others use a CD/DVD emulator to run other software which requires a CD/DVD in the drive, usually those who are on the move with their Laptops !
So my advice to all who may have such an emulator running at the same time as trying to run the MARK-2 RailSimEditor.exe is to shut it down with the Task Manager before starting the MARK-2 RailSimEditor.exe !
The MARK-2 RailSim.exe still requires it's DVD in a proper CD/DVD drive and not an emulated version of it and testing the MARK-2 ALPS RailSim.exe once more for a member who has just posted, all of the ALPS then runs alright too !
After I have tested the about to be released update of the ALPS with and without my CD/DVD simulator running shall report the results.
