Can someone whip me up a simple rectangle building that has the roof angling up from rear to the front please.
Shape:
To be Distant grandstand 200 meters away from the tracks
Same exact shape as Chiland Route shape " 0yrdshdlb2.s "
But, need to be able to apply a different texture to each side and the roof.
I have the textures to apply.
See attached picture for example:

Thanks

Rick,
This took less than 5 minutes to make. I respectfully suggest you get SketchUp, run the tutorials, and have at it. You will never be sorry and it opens a whole new dimension in MSTS modeling.
This is exactly what Google is best at and I think the latest download will handle animation.
I did not texture the model as per your request and have included the Google Sketch original file so when you get SU you will be able to play too! :D
If you need the roof to be at more of a tilt let me know. I gave it a 1.5 meter slope, i.e., back height is 14.4 meter, front is 13 meter. Each side of the box is set up for a single texture, just paint away or if you cant handle SU, send me the textures and I will paint it.

Sorry but my version of PSP (ver 3) wont do transparency.
However, I painted the front and sides.
At 200 meters from the tracks it should make no difference what you paint there but you should get Google SU if you are going to need simple models like this. You wont be sorry and it's very easy to learn, the first truly intelligent modeling program...and it's free!

Looks good, except it is backwards.LOL. can you turn it around, the high side is the front, also, the second texture has the backside...........
texture: 0YrdShdLb.ace is the front, sides and roof
texture: 0YrdShdLb-2.ace is the back
I know they are rough, but I will fix that.
I sent corrected textures also, I sent the wrong back last time, but it is in the same position on the texture....
oops
I also took ur advise and downloaded GS, I will try this weekend.

Okay, corrected backwards model. i just rotated it 180 deg.
painted new backside.
(are you sure thats the backside? it looks like rows of seats to me anyway.)
in my world, looking at the front of a grandstand you would see seats.

PERFECT....................
THANKS VINCE
The textures were quick copied, I will pretty them up, that backside is a picture of the backside at INDY 500.............of one of the stadium seats, the MONON-2 last version will have the NYC sub that WENT....right next to the INDY 500 (200 M away anyway.....). They even used to have a station there. I googled earth the INDY 500 even included the golf course...LOL, 14 more hard miles to go.......... one more town and then suburbia again......

You're welcome Rick. :)
Now go ahead and D/L SketchUp, hold off the route for a few hours, get yourself a cuppa coffee, and run through all the tutorials and you'll never be happier at what you'll be able to create for your route. :D

Once you have made your drawing, how do you export to an .s and .sd file?
I do not see an export option for that.

If you want to back date a bit, there used to be a demolition derby track on the south side of 16th street where that shopping center is now.(Used to televise every saturday night on very early Indy TV, channel 4 as I recall.)
Right next to the gas station next to that track, right at 16th st was a white wooden house turned into a drive in restaurant. It had a green roof.
That small track had old white concrete block walls, stand backs as I recall, and junk cars of course were always parked nearby, with numbers of course..Hudsons were a favorite...

Rick, the Gas station was next and just east of the track on the south side of 16th street. Next to it, and to the east, was the white house with a green roof which had been converted into a drive in..Next was the demolition derby, which usually had those plastic gas station type pennants flying during racing season....
There are buildings in the library which might double for any of these structures..

Ohhhh, if it is the one East of Clermont by the Drive-in, it is there now as a bigger track and I did include that in the new version.
Or is it this track:
16th St, Indianapolis, IN 46234

Rick, the track I refer to is no longer there. It was directly across the street from the Indy 500 main gate, ran parallell to 136..If you do a google, look at the current gas station..It sits where the drive in restaurant used to be..The bldg to the west, next to the track, is where the small gas station used to be..The concrete lot east of the current gas station was where the demolition derby track was, and it was maybe 75-100 yards wide, running along 16th street..
For many years, the Monon operated a race train to that exact point on the track and stayed there all day, waiting for race fans to return to the passenger cars..A good pic of this is in the book The Monon Route, by Hilton,IIRC..

I think you are referring to the INDY 500 train
So you mean here...
Between US 136 and 16 street next to where the tracks used to be...

I might do it, the frame rate is going to be challenging at INDY as is, will try it and see............If nothing else, just paint it on the ground with grandstands

Rick, I might be wrong, but it might simplify your Indy track to know that prior to maybe 1959, the entire track was surrounded by a plain board fence, maybe 8 feet tall, same color as railroad ties. All of the grandstands were medium grey trimmed in green, and they also were wooden, (and more closely resembled covered bleachers compared to today's stands..
If your view from 16th street and Georgetown needs any "filling", a trailer park was on Georgetown road, approx 3/4 of a block north of 16th street, on the west side of the street.
It was Joe Dunne's trailer court and he was married to one of my mom's aunt's.
The field west of that park(and the track), was still all open with nothing but grass and trees for approx 3 blocks, along 136, until the houses in Speedway picked up.
If you need any real details of the area, I am definitely your man, (due to my advanced age,LOL).
