Hi guys,
A new document talking about the time of day, fog and sky colour and lighting, also the source files too in the free download section on http://www.railsimulator.com
Just a note of caution, before you go 'tinker' with source files and exporting... back up the existing files.
:)

Not being a KUJU trained programmer/coder of RS and it's support files, I have no idea of how to use this "Source" information and have no intention of having to learn something I should not have to concern myself with !
I hope that Tom Boswell's modifications to views will show me the way in a more understandable fashion. ;)
It's like buying a Ferrari and then being told to tune it to perfection myself ! :(

Otto,
Nothing is ever gained without effort, except winning the lottery, but then you have to drive to get the ticket! You will have to dig in and try some modifications in order to get your desired weather and distant mountain effects. The basic explanation is in my post in the scenery thread. It's not that hard, just a modification of up to 4 different values, and knowing how the files interact, which I explained. One of the .bin editors will open and modify the files for you.
RS unfortunately didn't come with a weather editor, so this is what we are presented with. Personally I look at it as something new to play with.

Hardly. In order to drive that Ferrari, you'll need a driver's license. As mentioned in the readme file: "THIS SOURCE IS PROVIDED FOR ADVANCED USERS" In order for you to tinker with the sim, you're going to have to learn this stuff.

Great write-up Derek. It was informative and I have better understanding of it now.
Thanks
