View Full Version : AI physics

One thing I always found disappointing when running activities I built was the unrealistic physics of the AI trains. Examples: An AI train pulling up to a red signal runs at full track speed until the last 200 feet or so before the signal and then stops very quickly; when starting from a stop, the AI train (even a 100+ car train) is able to reach track speed in just a few car lengths; the AI train can always maintain track speed, no matter how underpowered the train is or how steep the grade, etc.
Will MSTS-X address this problem and have more realistic AI behavior?

I was hoping random factors would be allowed (such as TD3) so at the very least trains would not always run at a certain percentage performance. The other factor is response time as far as how fast the engineer responds to signal and or speed changes.

Anything that involved more realistic physics would be icing on the cake for me. But we'll see what can be tailored in the SimConnect and it could always be incorporated in an add-on.

Thanks
