I have developed a new scenario and would like a limited number to adventurous players to try it out on a variety of computers. I anticipate that this scenario will be a challenge for lower end machines. With the exception of 2 files available in this file library, I believe that all rolling stock is default installation, but this is part of what I would like to test prior to release...rather than going release, revise, release etc, that I find to be a problem.

Outline : 100 car plus trans-con from SanBernadino to East Victorville. 2 engines plus 3 helpers. Lots of IA to create headaches.

If interested in testing contact me at jbfried@rochester.rr.com and please include rough specs on the PC you are using.

I have run into difficulty with transmitting .rpk files as attachments. I will try to make the scenario available through the library after I am sure that I have identified all of the additional required rolling stock. Thanks again to all of you who responded.

Hi Jim !

Use Mike Simpson's RS_Tools_TMB to package your scenario and then ZIP the folder it has created.

It's a proven and fool proof method of packaging add-ons which has worked flawlessly since it has been created ! :D

Uploading a ZIP like the ones you e-mailed me and my ISP's mailer did not like, downloaders from the File Library will experience the same problems ! :(

Take care, O t t o.

P.S.: The WINRAR file you just e-mailed me had no problems. Will test it later and then report back via e-mail.

P.S.-P.S.: Having to install your scenario's folder manually and create a new paragraph for it in the B-SB Scenarios.bin file so that is is visible in the B-SB's scenarios list, other testers may not be able to do, it is a good idea to let Mike Simpson's RS_Tools_TMB package it, testers will then have no headaches trying to install it ! ;)

Having tested it, I shall then package it the Mike Simpson's way and e-mail a ZIP of it back to you later today, you can then pass on to other testers.

P.S.-P.S.-P.S.: Having installed it, it starts at Oro Grande but because the route's Scenarios.bin does not know which rolling stock it uses can not see any on the tracks there.

I need your Barstow-San Bernardino Scenarios.bin you will find in it's 76b3a3f0-c9b0-48f2-9eff-1af9b00166d6 folder !

There is more to it than meets the eye ? ;)

Sent you the requested scenario file via email as a .rar file. Of course the scenario should start in SanBern and I suspect that your copy is using one of the IA as the driver vehicle.

Yes, you did ! But I need your B-SB route folder's Scenarios.bin which lists the services used by your scenario ! ;)

If you have Mike Simpson's RS_Tools_TMB then you can have it package your scenario for compressing with WINZIP or WINRAR.

As mentioned in an email, I have been unable to package any scenario using Mike's Tools. I can package routes and they do have the scenarios included but the scenario packager produces an error, which I have reported to Mike. This is true for all scenarios, not just the ones that I have modified or produced. Thus I have "fallen back" on the packager from KRS. If you can get a complete working scenario on your system I would be gratified if you would package the scenario with RS_Tools

Will be happy to do that for you, Jim !

But first I need your B-SB route folder's Scenarios.bin, not the scenario's Scenario.bin you have already sent, so that I can test your scenario with it's rolling stock before RS_Tools_TMB packaging your scenario.

Mine is only 15 Kb, so zipping it and attaching it to your next forum message is one option, or WINRAR it and attach it to an e-mail is another !

Did similar today, packaging all the various versions of ALPS scenarios before merging them all into my new ALPS-OTTO-1 route. ;)

O t t o

P.S.: Checking my e-mail after posting this find your ZIP has arrived. Thanks !
Will report back soon !

Hi Jim !

Testing this scenario in a MARK-1 default US/UK copy of RS it reports Failed to load because it is missing a lot of non-default wagons, which must be included in the package, or links provided where to download it from !

Freight\cementhopper3chutes\bn1
Freight\cementhopper3chutes\bn2
Freight\cementhopper3chutes\bn3
Freight\cementhopper3chutes\bn5
Freight\cementhopper3chutes\ns
Freight\cementhopper3chutes\nw
Freight\cementhopper3chutes\nw5
Freight\tankcar\tank1

Can you tell me where you got them from ?

And what is the last scenario in your Scenarios.bin - Thorn Reversal ? Another new one of your's ?

I believe the cement 3 chute hoppers can be found in these two files from Train-Sim library
BN cement hoppers contained in file bnhop5
CNW cement hoppers in file cnwhops.

For the missing tank car see the note below

Due to loading of "Huffing Around" another tanker load came from
Procor BlackTanker (Proc_Tank_blk.zip), available at www.trainzstation.com on the RS Rolling Stock page. After checking this does seem to be the source of this tank car!

and yes the "reversal" is another scenario I was working on, but it is a mod, not totally original, and right now I do not have the original source at hand.

Hi Jim !

Could you ZIP/RAR the RailVehicles\Freight folders of this rolling stock I am missing and attach it to an e-mail to: http://forums.flightsim.com/vbts/attachment.php?attachmentid=6242&stc=1&d=1219920507

I and other downloaders of scenarios should not have to do that themselves, unless they are payware ! ;)

Thanks, O t t o.

I downloaded the Long Pull Scenario from the file library this afternoon.

When the scenario is installed, it creates a scenario folder "15B8DBEB-AF7F-4B4E-A38A-0A7DFD4F8396" that includes a scenario.bin file as well as seven scenario.bak files.

However, it does not create an entry in the scenarios.bin file for the Barstow route.

This senario should have loaded into the cajon pass route, not created its own route. It belongs in route 76b3a3f0-c9b0-48f2-9eff-1af9b00166d6. I am feeling that this may be due to a problem with the KRS package creater. I am working with Otto to use RS_Tools to create a working download soon. Be patient, unless you want to try to manually tinker with it.

Jim, As a clarification, It did create the scenario folder in the Cajun pass (Barstow) route, what it did not do is update the scenarios.bin file in the route.

Since you seem to be right there, could you check the version of the KRS package installer on your system? I did the Mk2 developer installation and my packager and manager has a creation date of 8/13/2008 (mm/dd/yyyy). I am developing the theory that there is a conflict between Mk1 and Mk2 installers.

RS_Tools is A LOT better tham the package manager, and much easier to use, I always use it to compress my assets and to backup payware contents installed, it has always worked like a charm for me.

Ottodad has converted the scenario over to a RS_Tools auto installation package. Hopefully this will solve the above problem. It has been uploaded as v1.01 of Long Pull to Victorville. Avoid v1.00, it fell prey to a KRS packager bug
