Along with the excellent route "Alps", the Italian Rail Simulator web site http://www.railsimulator.it/ also has some good scenarios for the Hagen to Siegen Route

I just finished Morning Freight, and it was a very good activity, alot of AI, and well thought out assignments. I did revise the scenario weather from heavy fog to clear, though, because I wanted to enjoy the scenery.

There are two other activities that they have for Hagen to Siegen that I have downloaded and installed but not run yet. "Wood'n'paper" and "Hagen-Siegen_Summer_Express"

When you install these scenarios, you should edit the scenarios.bin file to add the english verbage for the display name as well as the descriptions. (I found google translator to be very helpful in doing this)

I did run the simulator to make sure they would load, although I have not played them yet. "Hagen-Siegen_Summer_Express" loaded with out a problem, but the "Wood'n'paper" gave me a "Scenario Failed to Load" message. I discovered from editing the scenario in the simulator, that half of the AI trains were instructed to stop at the same location and did not have any final destinations. So I deleted the stop at instructions for them and found them final destinations. It took a few tries before I got a successful message for evey AI.

I look forward to enjoying these activities, and I believe you will find them worth downloading and running.

Both "Wood'n'Paper" and the "Summer XP" require some rolling stock that I imagine comes from the York route, which is still unavailable to us Yanks in a form playable under MK2. I used Kickstart to swap stock, but there's still a problem with "Wood'n'Paper".

First of all, as written, the scenario allows for loading just one container car, not all ten. (This lack of understanding of the loading instruction also plagues some German-made payware scenarios.) But the real problem occurs after one or all cars are loaded and the player tries to drive to train to its destination: the gateway (either 6 or 7) switches, which are set by the game dispatcher, will not let the train depart for the mainline. I checked this problem by creating a simpler but similar scenario with no AI traffic at all at the same loader and could not move the train from the loader track once it had gotten there.

The "Morning Freight" scenario includes a freight car that is evidently available only in the European version of RS: something called Eanos x052. I used Kickstart to swap it for something else, but the scenario still failed to load. I opened it in editing mode to check the driver instructions and they look pretty straightforward: making up a consist in the starting yars and then dropping off the cars in various yards down the line. I haven't checked the AI trains yet and I'm not sure that I have the energy to do that. There must be something I'm missing?

Hi Tom,

I can not understand your comments that the York route is unavailable to use under MK2 ?

I have the US version and also the EU version, I had no problems copying the York route and all the rolling stock into the US version and getting it to run.

Hello, Mike,

I don't happen to be fortunate enough to have both the US and EUR versions of RS on my computer (and at present, I don't know where I'd put the on my hard drives!), so stock that comes with or is downloadable specifically for the York-Newcastle route just isn't available to me. To be more specific, RS Tools reports that I'm missing a freight car called Eanos x052. I thought I had found this on AmiciTreni, but what I downloaded was evidently a re-skin, not the original car.
According to the RS forum, Yk-Nc should be available again soon, so I'll just be patient.
