In adding some content to the San Bernie container yard, I inatvertently lost the ground textures for about 2 square miles where I see under the tracks, also camera view is stuck under the tracks looking up to place new content. Any help appreciated, thanks.

The T key in the RS World Editor is used to create a routes terrain from .hgt dem files. That's also the key used to load containers during gameplay. Unfortunately, the ,hgt files for the default routes were not provided with RS. If you accidentally pressed the T key while you were in the editor, your terrain set itself to zero (sea level).

If that's the case, I think you only have two options. Reinstall, of get the terrain tiles from someone else. If you move your cursor over the blank areas, the associated tiles file number will show in the lower right corner of the editor.

Thanks Craig. Im pretty positive I did not hit the T key as I was adding content, but I'm thinking of re-installing this tempramental attemt of a rail sim as I'm also having lots of trouble getting rolling stock up and running. The highlight of the week was being able to load and run the new GP-38. I'll save the up-dates and go from there. This puts a gloomy mood in deciding the pro's and con's of this rail sim. I've had this since it was available, and I thought I had a handle on how it operates. I guess not.

If you do hit the T key in the default routes and the ground falls away to sea level and then you inadvertently save the route in this position (you can exit the editor without saving anything by clicking the 'close screen' gadget in the top right of the window if in windowed mode ) all is not lost, at least for fairly flat areas.

In the editor, go to the painting tool then move the cursor to the terrain around the edge of your 'hole'. The altitude will show at the bottom of the screen, e.g. Terrain: Height: 55.5

Now click on the level icon (top left box 5th along 2nd row) this opens the bottom left popout box with a button at the bottom showing a green lozenge with a vertical orange arrow next to it.

Make sure the circle next to this arrow is selected (has a white dot in the centre) and enter the height as above 55.5 in the box.

In the box above, fill in a size for your brush which will depend on the size of your hole, but 100 should do.

Now drag the cursor over the hole and the terrain should all move up to its previous level.

If you are not in "Windowed RS" mode then you can abort RS after pressing Ctrl-Shift-Esc and End either the RailSim.exe or RailSimEditor.exe running in the Task Manager !

Thanks so much for your help guys. Its great to know that when one has a problem with this "challenging" sim, there are people with answers that don't hesitate to help. I'm back up and running.
Thanks again
