Hello!

I have an idea for the TS2 development team, im getting so damn annoyed when building consists when you have a full train with wagons looking the same or it takes so long to look for the wagons in the list to get a good mix, so i am thinking that it would be a good idea to do just like the numbering that goes random with every loco and wagon to make the locos and wagons choose a random Texture eachtime you put one on the rail, would save alot of time and would look so much better.. please people help me with more ideas how to improves up on this idea.

I believe I brought this up prior to some extent. Car numbers I believe are supposed to be a font so that the numbers can change without reloading a new image according to Microsoft. I'm not too sure about random logos though - that would be another good idea too.

Thanks

Sean

This is how Trainz and other rail sims eventually accomplished this.

The problem with the existing solutions is that the sim developers wanted the content creators to understand about making numbers from bitmap "fonts" as alpha channels which made the whole thing way more complex than needed. While making bitmap number cutouts by hand maybe someones idea of fun work... to others it's pure drudge.

What they really should have done with TRAINZ, for example, was added a simple tool that let you select TTF font glyphs for numbers 0-9 in let's say a "ROMAN" font and make the tricky bitmaps for you from a simple "click and GO". You then assign the RESULT to the model.

The MAJORITY of people would more likely have a very close to correct font handy than the expertise to get bitmaps right while blindly dealing with the "mask" mode of alpha channels.

So, here's hoping we get a tool to accomplish this.
