Campeign Underway To Save The Lost Engines Of Roanoke

A fund raising campeign has been started to preserve the lost engines of Roanoke. Check out and please consider a contribution at http://lostengines.railfan.net/

The locomotives consist of 4 steam locomotives and two Baldwin DS-4-4-66 diesels plus two water canteens and a flatcar of some sort.

If the equipment is not moved by Dec 31 2008 the torch will be taken to the last 4-8-0 M2 locomotives in existance.

I have posted this here for those that do not check the general board.

One of the steam engines has already been saved by someone up in Ohio, and I believe has already been sent up there. I am hopeful that they all can be saved.

May not be able to buy it. But maybe consider donating to the cause of saving them?

Maybe a pack should be done fast and used as a donation ware project to help raise the money to save them? Like the CPR steam pack was used for.

I am going to talk to me Business class teacher at school and see about starting a project to help raise the money tp donate toward the cause to save the steamers and the tenders.
