Default Any interest in the Erie Graham Line (Port Jervis Line)

Hello,

For the last several years, I have been mentioning on this forum that I have a copy of the unreleased Graham Line, the current Metro North Port Jervis Line, which in the MSTS version goes from Port Jervis, NY to Suffren, NY as in reality.

As I have mentioned before, the route is modeled circa Conrail before the NS takeover. Rails extend from Hillburn Yard north to Port Jervis. Moodna Viaduct, Campbell Hall, and Otisville Tunnel are in place. For now, scenary is sparadic and stops shy of CP- Sloatsburg.

Here some screenshots of the route:
http://forums.flightsim.com/vbts/sho....php?p=1498121

The developer of the route had to stop work on the Graham Line for MSTS in 2003 because of work and family committments. He gave me permission to share the route with interested parties. I would like to know how many of you would be interested in downloading and installing the route if I received the permsision of the developer to upload a copy of the route to the train-sim library. Before uploading the route, I would need to create a readme of the scenery objects used in the route. Some of the authors of these scenery objects have since left Train-Sim. For example, I cannot get in touch with Cal Rasmussen.

Hopefully, someone, knowledgeable about the Port Jervis Line, can complete work on the virtual route.

Sincerely,
Walter Conklin
Washington, D.C.

Can you comment on just how complete the route is? Are the sidings name in place for use with programs such as Activity Generator? In either case, a new route is always of great interest and I too would like to see it.

Hi,

Yes, I will comment about the status of the line.

I don't know how famillar you are with the Port Jervis Line, which is actually part of the Norfolk Southern Tier.

Almost all of the controlled sidings, as well as the Hudson Secondary Line (the current NYSW Line, nee Lehigh & Hudson Railroad Line, and Crawford Line that are on the real Port Jervis Line are in place in the MSTS route.

Sincerely,
Walter

P.S. I would greatly appreciate if someone, who has experience with route building and has created a readme for their route, and has an interest in my proposal to upload the route, would assist me with compilling the neccessary citations to give credit to the authors of whose scenery appears in the route. As I mentioned previously, I am having a difficult time compiling the citations.

I forgot to mention there are couple of places where bridges need to be installed to match the prototypes, including some curved bridges, but the track still goes over the embankments.

I'm interested. I can make station signs for each station if they're needed. I'll also help someone make the Pascack Valley Line if they want to begin it.

Thank you for your offer. I don't think at this stage I am in need of signs for the stations.
What I do need is assistance with compiling a readme of the scenery objects used in the route.

Walter

I take it you have permission to release the route?

As for the readme, what you should do is note all the items that are in there. A bit tedious but since you probably don't know the filenames since I believe you said they are not in the library anymore. That would be the best way to do it. Also helps if you know the names of theiur creators as well.

You could also either get the names of the creators of the scenery objects, list them in the readme giving credit for the scenery objects. Plus the Original routebuilder who made the route itself.

Are you in contact with the routebuilder? If so would he have the names of the guys who did the scenery objects?

When I say list of names you can put them in the readme as a list. For building the scenery objects.

As for a list of scenery objects if you can get their names you can put those in too.

Hello,

I was in contact with the route builder for several years; however, I have since lost his contact information.

As I mentioned in my first post, the developer had given me permission to share the route. He had not begun work on the readme for the route when real life intervened. About two years ago, I had begun the process of compiling a list of the names of the authors whose scenery objects appeared in the route. However, after sending several emails to these authors per their instructions in the readmes for the scenery, these messages have bounced.

Sincerely,
Walter

Okay, what you could do is state that the routebuilder gave you permission to share it. Also make a disclaimer that the scenery objects were made by other people.

Or a disclaimer that if anyone who recognizes a object in the route as theirs to please contact you for proper credits. Thats the only way I can see doing it myself.

Also stating that the scenery objects remain as freeware items. No altering of the shape files. Under no circumstances may they release a scenery object that has been altered or without permission. And in this case may not release a scenery object in another route at this time until the identities of the creators have been identified properly and proper credit had been given to them.

Of course you can always put more restrictions on those objects if you want.

In the meantime if anyone here had created a object for this route, assistance would greatly be appreciated. Sounds like a great route.

If he had allowed you to share it, then I would imagine he had permission himself to share it too.
