X-Plane 11.50+ Howard DGA-15P 4.0a. The Howard DGA-15P is the most common variant of the Howard aircraft still flying. It was built commercially beginning in 1936 the year after the designer, Benny Howard's "Mister Mulligan" won both the Bendix and Thompson trophies for speed and endurance--the only plane ever to do this. The DGA ("Good Airplane") -15P variants today are mostly restored military variants from WWII (e.g., U.S. Navy GH-1 to GH-4 used as air ambulances, personel transport, and instrument training). The enclosed X-Plane 11.50 model is of the historic GA aircraft, the Howard DGA-15P. The model began life as a freeware FS98-FSX model shell which I converted to the 3D modelling program, AC3D, and completely overhauled and rebuilt for X-Plane 11 over the last four or five months. Please see the enclosed "credits.txt" file for details. All files in this download are released as freeware for the enjoyment of the flight sim community. X-Plane 11.50+ Bristol Bulldog IIA 1.1. The Bristol Bulldog is a British Royal Air Force single-seat biplane fighter designed during the 1920s by the Bristol Aeroplane Company. More than 400 Bulldogs were produced for the RAF and overseas customers, and it was one of the most famous aircraft used by the RAF during the inter-war period. This is the excellent Bristol Bulldog by Philippe Gastebois (bristol_bulldog_iia_to_upload.zip), updated with permission. I added a 3D cockpit, a worn metallised livery (most British aircraft and airships of the time had aluminum doping on the canvas skin), and many other small details. This is a very maneuverable aircraft (as was required at the time), and good fun to fly. V1.1 is a big update by MDIvey, and represents a lot of work with ten new liveries, along with new wheels, exhaust, prop, Aldis sight, wheels, cylinder fairings have been made and work on the geometry and UV map of the fuselage, tail fin and rudder. X-Plane 11.50+ Antoinette (V16 Engine) 1.0. The Antoinette VII was an early French aircraft, flown in 1909. The VII was a further development of the Antoinette IV, with increased engine power and using a wing warping system developed by Levavasseur for the Antoinette V in place of the Antoinette IV's ailerons. This X-Plane model (circa 1910) has the later V16 Antoinette engine producing 100hp. It's easy to fly, but does need to be flown! Takeoff is at 18kts, with landing around 22kts. With the 50hp V8 installed, it would represent the replica built for the movie "Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machinesâ€, which apparently did not fly very well. It complements my Martin Handasyde 3 which is much smaller and has a more sophisticated wing: martin_handasyde_no3.zip. Thanks to Beber for his pilot and Dan Hopgood for the engine sounds. X-Plane 11.50+ Airco DH2 1.0.1a. The Airco DH.2 was a single-seat pusher biplane fighter aircraft which operated during the First World War. It was the second pusher design by aeronautical engineer Geoffrey de Havilland for Airco, based on his earlier DH.1 two-seater. The DH.2 was introduced to frontline service in February 1916 and became the first effectively armed British single-seat fighter. It enabled Royal Flying Corps (RFC) pilots to counter the "Fokker Scourge" that had given the Germans the advantage during late 1915. It served in fighting and escort duties for almost two years, while numerous pilots became flying aces using the type. Thanks to Beber for his pilot and Dan Hopgood for the engine sounds. X-Plane 11.50+ Bristol Boxkite 1911 1.0.2. The Boxkite (officially the Bristol Biplane) was the first aircraft produced by the British and Colonial Aeroplane Company (later known as the Bristol Aeroplane Company). A pusher biplane based on the successful Farman III, it was one of the first aircraft types to be built in quantity. As the type was used by Bristol for instruction purposes at their flying schools at Larkhill and Brooklands, many early British aviators learned to fly in a Boxkite. Four were purchased in 1911 by the War Office and examples were sold to Russia and Australia. It continued to be used for training purposes until after the outbreak of the First World War. X-Plane 11.35+ Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 1.0.5. The Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 is a British biplane fighter aircraft of the First World War. It was developed at the Royal Aircraft Factory at Farnborough by a team consisting of Henry Folland, John Kenworthy and Major Frank Goodden. The volume production was sub-contracted out to various organisations amongst which included Vickers and Martin-Handasyde. This was possibly the RFC's (Royal Flying Corps) most successful day fighter. This X-Plane build is a preview of a work in progress and will improve through successive releases, I admit to the various texture issues in this release. Currently it only has a 2D cockpit, the only active thing here is the gun arm switch which you need to activate before using the trigger. This had a 200HP V8 Hispano-Suiza engine, so far less torque on takeoff than rotaries, which had reached the end of development potential. My thanks to JandJ for letting me use his original work, particularly the fuselage as a starting point and Beber for the pilot. X-Plane 9 Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 1.0. The Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 was a German biplane fighter floatplane of World War I. It was a development of Ernst Heinkel's previous KDW, adding a rear cockpit for an observer/gunner, and had an unusual, inverted tailfin/rudder (which instead of standing up from the fuselage, hung below it) in order to give an uninterrupted field of fire. This X-Plane model is a simple fun flyer on straight floats or on skis. The instruments are in German. But you're not going to be looking at them much... this is a VFR, day, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants aircraft. This is distributed as freeware! X-Plane 10 Hansa-Brandenburg W.29 And W.12 1.0. The Hansa-Brandenburg W29 was a German monoplane fighter floatplane which served in the closing months of World War I, from bases on the North Sea coast. It was based on the W12 biplane that it was designed to replace. The monoplane configuration created less drag, and thus gave greater speed. This is an updated W.29 back by popular request and includes both ski and float versions. I made it for X-Plane 9 a long time ago but had some things needed to redo but all in all, it's the same great W.29. There are a bunch of liveries in the download, including two versions of the Finnish livery. As some folks find the old Finish roundel to be excessively unfriendly, I have included one with just the white and blue circles, which still looks great! Nothing fancy, no flaps, no tricks, but one of my friends (Troopie) made a mod for the rocker arm movement with a lua file. I included it in case you want to install it, works good for me. X-Plane 11.50+ Cody1A 1908 3.0. Samuel Franklin Cowdery (later known as Samuel Franklin Cody) was a Wild West showman and early pioneer of manned flight. He is most famous for his work on the large kites known as Cody War-Kites, which were used by the British before World War I as a smaller alternative to balloons for artillery spotting. This X-Plane model is phase 3 of the Cody 1908 machine and features a new graphics package. Thanks to Beber for his pilot and Dan Hopgood for the engine sounds. X-Plane 11.30+ Bleriot XI 2.1. The Bleriot XI is a French aircraft of the pioneer era of aviation. The first example was used by Louis Bleriot to make the first flight across the English Channel in a heavier-than-air aircraft, on 25 July 1909. It was produced in both single- and two-seat versions, powered by several different engines, and was widely used for competition and training purposes. Military versions were bought by many countries, continuing in service until after the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Two restored examples, one in the United Kingdom and one in the United States, of original Bleriot XI aircraft are thought to be the two oldest flyable aircraft in the world. X-Plane 11.50+ Wright Flyer 1.2.0
X-Plane 11.50+ Wright Flyer 1.2.0. The Wright Flyer made the first sustained flight by a manned heavier-than-air powered and controlled aircraft on 17 December 1903. Invented and flown by Orville and Wilbur Wright, it marked the beginning of the pioneer era of aviation. This model uses the Chanute 7 model as a starting point, with subsequent mods by Ray Hill. The Plane Maker model has been overhauled, with drag added to simulate the pilot and engine, plus matching the suggested drag values for the miscellaneous bodies and changes to accurately model the front elevators. It now only has one engine but retains the two props! A 3D model downloaded from the Smithsonian was added, along with sounds from recordings of a replica Wright 1903 engine. There is more work to do - mainly better animation of all the moving parts - currently only elevators and rudder are animated. Retexturing would do justice to what is a very fine 3D model. Hopefully, others can take up the baton and refine it further. The .ac 3D files are included. Version 1.2.0: Aircraft now has skids, plus launch is by winch. Set full power and release brakes to start launch - as soon as the aircraft moves, release the winch. You're just using the winch to get a bit of speed (20 knots or so). X-Plane 11.30+ Martin-Handasyde No. 3 2.1. The Martin Handasyde No.3 was an early British single-seat monoplane design, built in partnership by H.P. Martin and George Handasyde. Only one was built. It was initially powered by a 60 hp (45 kW) Antoinette V-8 engine, but later changed for a 40 hp (30 kW) J.A.P. It was first flown at Brooklands by H.P. Martin during November 1910, and was flown throughout 1912 by Graham Gilmour, who was eventually killed in the aircraft when it suffered a mid-air structural failure over Richmond Park on 17 February 1912. For takeoff, it's best to use a proper runway (preferably one which slopes downhill), due to the lack of power available. Once airborne however, you will find that the aircraft is good for practising 3-point landings. Please read the pilots notes file for more information. X-Plane 11.50+ Messerschmitt BF-108 Taifun 1.2.5. The Messerschmitt BF108 is a high performance, four seat sports / recreation aircraft, first flown in 1934. Fitted with several different engines, the one presented here uses the Argus AS10, air cooled inverted V8 of 237Hp. The 108 has a lovely airy cockpit, with large opening elements of the canopy to allow access to the aircraft. Stephane Toledo did the bulk of the work on this model, and it was uploaded in an almost complete state. Unfortunately Stephane wasn't able to to see it completely finished. There were issues with the file structure in Stephane's release which caused problems for some people. This version has the following changes made: file names altered to avoid problems with files being renamed by Window / Linux, manipulators added to the 3D cockpit (this required alteration of some of the objects), textures modified to suit the changes to the objects, correct airfoils added, plus FMOD sounds improved. X-Plane 11.30+ Hawker Fury 2.0. The Hawker Fury was a British biplane fighter aircraft used by the Royal Air Force in the 1930s. It was a fast, agile aircraft, and the first interceptor in RAF service capable of speed higher than 200 mph. It was the fighter counterpart to the Hawker Hart light bomber. Many of these were built in Kingston and shipped to Brooklands for final assembly and rigging/ test flight, prior to delivery. Many thanks to Beber for the use of his pilot. X-Plane 11.30+ Brooklands Vimy 1.1. The Vickers Vimy was a British heavy bomber aircraft developed and manufactured by Vickers Limited. It made its first flight in 1917 and is perhaps most famous for the historic trans-Atlantic flight in 1919 by John Alcock and Arthur Brown. This is an adaptation (with permission) of Ron Norvell's Vickers Vimy for X-Plane 9 (ALCOCK_BROWN_VIMY.ZIP). This X-Plane 11 model represents the replica that is on permanent display at the Brooklands Museum, England. Many thanks to Ron Norvell and also Beber for the use of his pilot. X-Plane FMOD Sound Package For Dragon Rapide 1.0. This is an FMOD sound package for the De Havilland Dragon Rapide model originally by Philippe Gastebois and updated for X-Plane 11 by Paul Mort: de_havilland_dragon_rapide.zip. The Rapide is such a friendly aeroplane and so, this is a friendly sound package to go with it. It includes separate files for inside/outside, front/rear of the aircraft for each engine (200hp Gipsy six - basically a Tiger Moth engine with two extra cylinders), wind in the wires sound – which is a characteristic of the real thing, plus other system sounds/switches. These sounds are taken from various Dragon Rapide pleasure flight videos on YouTube, plus a few custom sounds from other freeware internet sources. X-Plane 11 DH 88 Comet Mod 1.0.1. This is a modification for the De Havilland 88 Comet by Chris Grantham and others - a highly under-rated X-Plane 9 aircraft in my view - hopefully, it can get a bit of a boost here. It has a lovely 3D cockpit and is modelled with 3D objects throughout. Changes comprise of the following: the addition of FMOD sounds (recorded from sound samples of the real thing at Old Warden) and the aircraft updated for X-Plane 11 - the cockpit canopy textures needed correcting, as did the animation of the landing gear. You must have the original aircraft installed for the mod to work: dh88_2_4_4.zip. Note: I've only included the additional/altered files. X-Plane 11.50+ Curtiss TS-1 Landplane 2.0. The Naval Aircraft Factory TS-1 was an early biplane fighter aircraft of the United States Navy, serving from 1922 to 1929. The NAF provided Curtiss with the plans to build the aircraft, and the result, designated TS-1, arrived on May 9, 1922. The TS-1 from Curtiss was delivered with wheels, so the Naval Aircraft Factory (NAF) also designed wooden floats to enable their use on vessels other than aircraft carriers.
