FS2004 Scenery--Pond Inlet CYIO in Nunavut, Canada. Pond Inlet is a village of some 1320 folks at the northern end of the northeast-facing coast of Baffin Island, 120 miles east of Nanisivik and 220 miles northwest of Clyde River. It faces the mountainous Bylot Island with its Sirnutik National Park, and because of these scenic surroundings it has becoming a tourist destination for those that want to see the north, whether from a cruise liner or on foot. The airfield is served by Canadian North and First Air. The runway is 4000' of gravel 98' wide, and the airfield is on the plateau close to the shore and the village. There is a new terminal building of a familiar format; northern terminals are prefabricated and shipped north and are to whatever design is currently in favor, though each with its own particular colors so pilots can remember where they are (dark blue and white, we must be in Pond Inlet).
