About This File

FS2004 Scenery--Dewar Lakes CWFL and FOX-3 DEW Canada. Dewar Lakes is around 95 miles west of Cape Hooper, one of the stations in the DEW line that heads west across Nunavut between N68 and N69 latitude. There is another station between Cape Hooper (FOX-4) and Dewar Lakes (FOX-3) called FOX-C but apart from the fact it was an Intermediate station there is no information about it, anywhere. The FOX-3 DEW station was replaced by a North Warning System station, which is automated and mostly unmanned. The DEW line station was not "closed" as such, they just stopped using it, so all the buildings are still there. The gravel runway at the bottom of the hill is 4, 730 feet of 150 feet wide gravel, signed as "217T - 037T" as this is Northern Domestic Airspace where all runways are signed "true" and not "magnetic". The "tent" camp for the construction crew is also still there, close to the apron at the southern end of the runway. By Roger Wensley.
