FS2004 Scenery--Komakuk Beach DEW in Yukon, Canada. These are DEW line sites in northern mainland Canada (not included in FS2004) to the west of Tuktoyaktuk. Komakuk Beach CWKB is in the Yukon and only 20 miles from the Alaska border. The gravel runway (3600' and 125' wide) has its western end almost on the beach. There is no lighting and no signage and the airfield is officially listed as closed, but it is used for servicing the automated NWS (North Warning Station) close by. This replaced the previous much older DEW station that was manned year round. Storm Hills CWSH is 43 miles southwest of Tuktoyaktuk, up on higher land at 810 feet ASL. The NWS is serviced by helicopter from Tuktoyaktuk and has a gravel landing pad on the north side of the station. There is a note regarding Aklavik downloading. By Roger Wensley.
