About This File
FS98 Airspeed Envoy AS6J-III, 1934. British twin-engined airliner for one pilot and 6-8 passengers, built by Airspeed Limited, York, in 1934. Powered by two Armstrong Syddeley Cheetah IX 7-cylinder radial engines, it had a top speed of 181 knots. About 50 units were built. In 1937, British King George VI obtained an Airspeed AS.6J Envoy III, given its speed, range, good stability and flaps, as well as its low landing speed of 54 knots. The model was used by several operators in different countries, and a few units were militarized for the RAF. Further development led to the military model AS.10 Oxford, of which 8,586 units were built, with approximately 150 being re-converted to civil use after WWII. Includes sounds by Mike Hambly and custom panel for FSFS guages. Textures by Udo Entenmann. By Stephan Scholz.
