About This File
FS2004 Grumman F9F-6 Cougar VF-24. The Grumman Cougar was the first swept wing operational jet fighter to enter service with the US Navy. Developed from the straight winged F9F Panther, the F9F-6 Cougar first flew on 20th September 1951 and entered service in late 1952. The Cougar was too late for Korean War service, however, and thus combat effectiveness estimates of the Cougar against potential foes necessarily remain in the sphere of conjecture. This package represents a F9F-6 Cougar on the VF-24 Squadron by 1953. Textures only, requires David Wooster's F9F Cougar (F9F_COUGAR.ZIP). By Juan Antonio Martinez C.
