About This File

FS98 Conroy Tri-Turbo-Three 1977. 1977 Trimotor Turboprop conversion by Conroy Aviation of the 1935 Douglas Sleeper Transport (DC-3) model for American Airlines, increasing cruising speed, range, payload and fuel efficiency. With 47% more power than the original DC-3, the three 1173 shp PT6A-45A turboprops give this model exceptional STOL capability, which made it ideal for unprepared airstrips. It had a normal operating speed of 200 KTAS and a range of 2,346 nm. With the nose engine shut down it cruised at 160 KTAS, with greater range. Two liveries are provided: Maritime Air and Sea Rescue livery as presented at the Farnborough and Paris Airshows in 1978 and 1979, and Polair livery, as flown on missions in the North and South Poles during the 80´s. This virtual model is a Tri-turbine conversion of the DC-3 FS98 upgrade from Freeflight Design Shop by M.Ritzema & A.Schmidt on an original DC-3 by John Kelly. Turboprob sounds by Graham Waterfield included. Textures adapted from Udo Entenman´s conversion of an original DC-3 model from John Kelly and Jan Visser. Simple high-visibility modified Lear45 panel for FSFSConv gauges included. By Stephan Scholz.
