X-Plane 9.70 Scenery--OR74 Winkle Bar 1.00. Winkle Bar in Oregon (OR), USA is a very short turf/dirt strip about 25 miles NE of Gold Beach. It is literally just a bare stretch on a sand bar inside a curve of the Rogue River on its way to the Pacific Ocean. It'll take practice to fly small GA or bush planes here, as the approach hazards include thick surrounding forests and steep low-power descents among mountains. Takeoffs require full flaps and power. Mind the wind direction! The river has been extended a bit to the SW, but couldn't take it all the way to the coast because it looked odd climbing over XP9's hilly terrain.
