About This File

FSX Douglas DC-3 KN456 Canucks Unlimited Douglas DC-3 C-GDAK, KN456. The 436 Squadron C-47 Dakota, Canucks Unlimited, of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. The Canadian Warplane Heritage DC-3 is a prewar civilian DC-3 that served with Eastern Airlines from 1939 and whose long career made it one of the highest-time DC-3s flying when obtained in the 1980s by the CWH. The aircraft is painted as KN456, a Dakota in the colors of 435 and 436 Squadrons of the Royal Canadian Air Force operating in Burma during World War II. 436 Transport Squadron was assembled in Gujrat, India (now in Pakistan), on 9 October 1944. Equipped with the C-47 Dakota, 436 Squadron flew its first official mission on 15 January 1945 from Kanglatongbi, Assam, India, when seven Dakotas airlifted 59 tons of supplies for 33 Corps of the Allied 14th Army in Burma. Thus the adopted emblem and quasi-motto of the squadron, "Canucks Unlimited". My repaint shows her beauty as she appeared in 2010. Thanks to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum for maintaining this great bird, and Manfred Jahn for his great model! By Ralph Lichtenberger.
