X-Plane 10.20+ Consolidated PB2Y Coronado 1.3. The Consolidated PB2Y Coronado was to have replaced the PBY Catalina as the Navy's patrol flying boat during the Second World War; the Catalina being a prewar design. However the Coronado failed to have a comparable range to the Catalina and was not considered as a replacement. In addition, the first versions were fitted with a single fin/rudder configuration that resulted in stability problems. The stability issues were resolved by using the twin rudder configuration that placed the control surfaces in the prop wash of the engines. The Coronado did go on to have a role in transport and patrol duties. By Ron Norvelle.
