About This File

FS2004 Tata Sons Ltd. DH-89A. Tata Sons Ltd. was a private Indian airline which was founded in 1932 to provide domestic services throughout British India. Starting with a pair of DeHavilland DH-80 Puss Moths, the airline quickly expanded throughout the 1930s before World War II put a halt to this growth. Following the end of hostilities, Tata became a public corporation and adopted the name Air-India Ltd in 1946. In 1953, the airline was nationalised and merged with six of its competitors into the Indian Airline Corporation, which nowadays operates as Indian. C/n 6381 VT-AJB was one of three Dragon Rapides purchased by Tata and delivered in 1937. It was impressed into military service in 1941 and struck off charge in 1945. By Nikko Yaginuma.
