  1. Having said it all worked fine, now not so. Loading up, settings all set, CDU programmed. Take off, set AP. Aircraft climbs but in a series of porpoising leaps. Disconnect AP and hand fly briefly, reset AP. Climb continues as before but once past the first WP it just keeps going, not following the route. Then starts an anti-clockwise turn, slowly but unstoppably going in circles. Time to bale out, getting dizzy. I shall go back to the non-Heavy version and see what happens.
  2. OK, thanks. That move was totally non-intuitive! Not a case of RTFM, since there doesn't seem to be a FM!!
  3. My B787 works fine - but tempted by all the rave comments, I added in the Heavy-Division mod. Although parts of it work OK, there is clearly an issue with the PFD and the map: This is with the B787 loaded, electrics on, route entered in CDU. It's clear that the PFD does not appear at all the same as the basic (ie non-heavy) version. The map display is not showing anything. All of this works perfectly well on the basic version. I have, of course, tried the usual re-booting, reloading the B78XH download, re-downloading in case it was corrupted. It's always the same. Is this something that others have seen? Any ideas? Help gratefully received!
  4. Well, yes, except that Microsoft hasn't installed horns in the aircraft!! As it is, they could at least leave a tell-tale pool blood on the tarmac to show where I mowed down the push-back driver! Or a mighty explosion where my wing has chopped through the fuel tanker. Where's the realism? Come on, MS.
  5. Is there a way to get the ground vehicles and push-back thingy to move out of the way. Sometimes, especially with smaller aircraft (BN-2 for example) one can taxi out forwards but there is often a van or fuel tanker in the way. Can I somehow signal that I want them to shift?!
  6. Well, since my previous rant about spending weeks being unable to get past the ERROR message ('Servers unavailable...') we now have success. Only possible by signing out of MS, then starting the sim from the MS Store. Required to sign in again, at which point it brought up a different 'install' page, which took about 45 mins. Then...successful start-up! It seems to have preserved most of my settings, which is a relief. A quick flight in the TBM from EGBJ to EGDD, in the teeth of storm Emma, seemed all OK. Now a bit baffled when trying to download the Japan World Update. The Buy and Download button is greyed out. Any suggestions?
  7. At last, I thought, as I read this thread - a fresh update, the weeks-old problem of 'Servers are unavailable, please try later' has been sorted. Did the fresh download from the MS Store, pressed Play. Went through the usual loading up stuff, though no 'Press any key '. Well, did we wait all this time just for that? Then heartsink, the familiar 'ERROR - Servers are unavailable....blah blah.' ' Click here for more help' - the article on how to solve the issue, which doesn't work, was posted by them on 5th October. Clearly they've not addressed the ERROR, and I suspect many folks out there will be fuming - what's the good in them fixing a few imperfections if many of us can't even get into the sim at all? It's back to submitting a ticket to Zendesk, getting an automated acknowledgement, and waiting several more weeks for another update - and what will that do?
  8. Who cares about autopilots, when for many of us there's no pilots, no flying. Can't start up MSFS as they tell us the servers are unavailable, please try later!! Haven't been able to use my paid-for program for about three weeks now, and all I get from Zendesk is an acknowledgement that they've received my ticket. No reassurance that they will fix it as a top priority - "Sorry, mate, what do you expect for £110, something that works?"
  9. I've been waiting nearly two weeks now, with the same error message (servers not available). The workaround that is suggested does not work. As you say, if you sign out from MS, then it demands to see your discs. I have submitted a request for urgent attention to this - it's not just a trivial bug, it's making it impossible to use the product I have paid for, and it started after the latest upgrade (1.9.5). So far, other than an automatic acknowledgement, I've heard nothing from Zendesk. How many others out there are waiting and waiting to resume using their new simulator?
  10. Yes, mine did the same at some point. Probably means it can't get through on the internet to check if you're an online owner, so assumes you have the discs.
  11. To answer my own question: looking on the MS Store, the XBox App merely keeps you informed of new games and tries to make you part with yet more of your money. The Console Companion seems to be something to do with getting the Console to work with a PC, or vice versa. Anyway, nothing to do with Flight Simulator as such. This glitch seems to originate with the latest upgrade, and it's got to be down to MS/Asobo to sort it out.
  12. No, the 'official' advice to fix this issue is to sign out of the XBox App (if installed), then sign out of the XBox Companion (if installed), then uninstall them, reboot, reinstall those apps, sign in to them etc. So, no, it seems it's something different. But what do they do?
  13. I have the same issue. Tried the 'fix' as advised by them, and per the previous post, but no luck. The advice suggests that the XBox App is not necessary ("Sign out of XBox App if installed"). What does it do? Would it help to have it?
  14. I had just the same happen to me, as to the OP. But I was in the TBM930. Started engine fine. Released parking brake. Opened throttle to begin taxi. Nothing, no movement. Engine revs increasing, speed tape showing 80, 90, 100 kts. All attempts to get the thing to budge, failed. Solution: reload aircraft from scratch. All OK. Hasn't happened since. Odd.
  15. That's something else that is odd since the patch. Previously I had renamed the profiles and saved them - if you didn't save them as you created them, you wouldn't be able to use the profiles. But now I find that the renamed ones would not save. After making some changes to settings under a new name, I click the Save button. The new settings work OK when tested, but when you go back to the Controls page to make some more changes, those new profiles do not appear, only the default. You can no longer retrieve the earlier changes. There's something amiss, that's for sure. It all worked a treat before this latest patch. I wonder where you found the backed-up profiles, to be able to re-load them?
  16. This latest patch - 1.9.3.0 - has had a weird and very annoying effect. On setting up a flight, I found that all my settings for my yoke, pedals and a few custom keystrokes had been wiped. Up to now, they have been (presumably) saved since I first set them up, and were immediately active each time I started FS. They took a long time to set up initially, trying this and that to get the best results. This latest patch has wiped those. I had to do them all again, from memory. They were all saved, clearly, as the flying went fine. When I came to start FS again today, they've gone again! And looking at my Pilot's Profile, it seems to think that today's flying is my very first. Is this something to with X-Box? When I start up, now (ie since the new patch) I get a pop-up window from X-Box saying they can't connect to my data 'on the cloud', even though the internet connection is fine and it knows I'm logged in. Anybody else had this issue? It's going to be a real turn-off if I have to spend an hour setting up the controls every time I start FS!
  17. So far no CTDs. But, perhaps even more bothersome, all my custom settings for Controls (yoke, pedals etc) have gone, so having to start from scratch. Anybody else got this?
  18. No, that's what I was after, a sub-folder or even sub-sub-folder structure to keep each file type in its own sub-folder. A shame it can't be done, and maybe something we will all want before long. How about it, MS?
  19. It seems to me that every add-on or tweak is simply chucked into the 'Community' folder. It's rapidly becoming too full to be able to categorise and find things. Is there a way to divide up the files by category - say, aircraft, scenery, utilities, or whatever - and then indicate in one of the cfg files where the files have been put - bit like the SceneryLibrary in FSX? You could put files anywhere as long as they were declared. Same with aircraft. Otherwise the Community folder is going to become unmanageable.
  20. The POV hat can be set up on the Options/Controls page. Go to your yoke profile, hover the mouse over the profile name. The long list of setting categories will appear. In the far left column make sure that under Filter you select 'All'. Below that, press to 'collapse' the tree structure of the profile settings. Select Camera/Cockpit Camera. Scroll down to find the sequence of settings starting with 'Cockpit Look Down', but NOT the 'Cockpit Look Down (Lockable)' option. For each of the directions to 'look' select the left-hand of the two columns that are to the right of the action column. Then either: select the top option (search) and press the POV hat in a downward direction, or: Select an Input and choose the obvious one. Then click Validate. Do this for each of the eight directions to look. All vaguely intuitive, but nevertheless part of the learning curve we're all trying to climb!
  21. Bonjour Mon Capitaine, To configure the yoke you must go to the Controls page. A partir le Home page selectionner Options then Controls (pardonnez mon Franglais but it's more fun this way). It should detect votre yoke , CH ou comme ça. Apres ça you will see settings pour keyboard, souris, et yoke, peut-etre aussi des pedals, si vous en avez. Cliquez le nom dessous (Votre yoke), which says 'Default profile'. The default settings will appear, and vous pouvez selectionner 'Flight Control Surfaces'. Apres ça, it depends on your yoke and settings, alors il faut try this and that to set up your yoke as you want it. Bonne chance!!
  22. OK, thanks. I just didn't scroll down the dropdown box far enough to see the parking spots available. Looking forward to some more authentic renditions of the 'unhandcrafted' airports - I fly out of EGBJ a lot, and the spots are not too well rendered. Also, a passenger-transfer bus was driving around! There are certainly none at EGBJ!!
  23. Are we now not able to set our aircraft to a stand or gate at start-up? The only options seem to be one or other runway. As far as I can see, the only way then is to taxi to the stand or gate of choice and start the flight from there, if it's going to be in any way authentic. Or have I missed something. No 'cold and dark' option either.
  24. My parking brake seems to come on automatically if I'm taxiing and then slow down. This brings me to a halt, obviously, but I then have to release the brake to move on. An rather odd system! Is this related to the 'autobrake' that, on some aircraft, self-activates when you touch down? Is there a way to de-activate it by default? It's a right PITA having to release the parking brake all the time while taxiing.
