Yes. I too like Sketchup while others do not. I am in the final stages of creating KRNO for FS9 and deeply involved into creation of KSAV for FS9 as well. ANYWAY, Once you import the dae file into MCX you must: 1. Open Material Editor and process/save your textures. Once the textures are saved, move them into your new scenery “texture” folder. 2. While still in MCX, “Export Object” and save the file to your new scenery “scenery” folder. This will make an MDL file. 3. In MCX, “Import” the new MDL file you made in step 2. 4. In MCX, “Export Scenery” and save in your new scenery “scenery” folder. This will a BGL version of your object. PS: Make sure you activated your new scenery in FS9’s scenery library. 5. Open Library Creator and point to your new BGL file - and process. At this point, you can edit your textures you made in Sketchup and save. Just remember to convert them before you try to view in FS9. I like using DXTBMP program and saving them as DXT3. Feel free to email me if you need further help. Mitch

MSFS 2024 announced
grau replied to tiger1962's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Early Discussion
Sure it will -
Not to mention I can no longer find a Readme file for any download. Seems to me this new site was a “bare-bones” version with limited capabilities. Perhaps I’m wrong. At any rate, the Readme files were very important and normally included the information such as how to contact the author, etc. Mitch

HiFi went into the tank years ago when Chris left. Kind of like Avsim when we lost the founder & very respected Tom Allenswoth. Mitch

[quote name=Qballba First off, Otterspherendit]For those looking for "modern", sfs-midg-phx2020-v1.zip and the associated original files really are a gem. Kind of dates the Simflyers version, which depicts quite a bit of construction happening in the early 2000's. Ottersphere, I owe you an apology. When I read your original post I interpreted it as you were inquiring about FS9 version of KPHL, not KPHX. All wonder why you never found a version of KPHX by Shez. I'm truly sorry. That said, the version of KPHL created by Shez is extremely well done. Secondly, I see folks mentioning about "sfs-midg-phx2020-v1.zip" authored by someone calling himself "Studio F. Simulations". No clue who he is. Personally I have not downloaded nor installed this update. However, it would have been courteous and respectful of him to have credited my work which he references as "SKYHARBOR2019.ZIP" and "KPHX_2019_UPDATE.ZIP". He credits Mach-1 which is nice. But I received written permission from the authors of Mach-1 before I set out to update the above files he references. Doesn't sound like a big deal. But it took me months to update those textures, etc. Would have been nice to have been mentioned in his credits. M1DG had absolutely nothing to do with the texture, positioning, bgl editing, that this guy credits. This is an excellent example of why freeware authors simply give up. Again Ottersphere, sorry I sent you on a witch hunt. Michael Lehkamp (grau)

Not sure why you'd want that one. Shez Ansari made a freeware (payware quality) version and it is fantastic. Great frame rates with superb detail. Michael

I agree. We can refer to it anyway we like! Michael

How about offering up some tangible assets. Perhaps he will take the bait. wink wink, nudge nudge :p

Surclaro always has been a looney website. Mitch

There you go. Little research never hurt anyone. Glad you found what you were looking for. Mitch

None of those images in this thread are true overcast. That said, yes it is possible and very nice looking. Search user "ShortFinal" and you will find your answer. Mitch

Mark, don't leave. I agree things have sorely gone downhill since Tom passed. But many of us enjoy your input. Mitch

Maybe you'd be better off using something else. You stated earlier "Thanks for your response. Will definitely not use it". Therefore, I'm not sure why I'm wasting my time here. I set out to create this update specifically for my home simulator. Unfortunately my XML skills are not as polished as some of my other code skills. So I reached out to Ed for help. Ed who is in the middle of developing his own work, basically dropped everything, and helped me see this to completion. And it works perfectly. So after some thought, I thought it would be nice to release it to the community. Couple of reasons. There really isn't any alternative for FS9 that is freeware and works independently with any jet aircraft. But perhaps the biggest reason being that I felt Mr. Kellogg would expect us to do so. It's folks like him that have devoted a huge amount of the their time to provide us with life like products for free. So I'm sorry this didn't work out for you. Very sorry we didn't create an installer for you. For the majority this program will do just as it describes. That said, i do not intend to respond any further to someone that has no intention of using it. I simply don't have the time. All the best. - Michael

I will be happy to help you if your manner remains positive and not condescending as in your first post. Many of us on here will happily drop what we are doing to help you if you are polite. I have downloaded the package from Flightsim that I uploaded. Therefore I know for a fact the XML's are not blank as you describe. If they are blank on your system then perhaps some antivirus program maybe the cause. I'm guessing. I do not know. TO INSTALL Place the gaHud29 folder into the panel directory of whatever aircraft you wish to add it to. The XML for the Hud , as well as the ice gauge, are in this folder. Also make sure you copy the B767 folder into your main FS9 sound folder. And, copy the dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau file into your main FS9 gauge folder. Next you need to edit the aircraft panel.cfg file where you wish to use. This can be done in many ways and assumes folks have some knowledge of editing the panel file. To get you up and running, I will provide an example of how to add this the FS9 stock Boeing737-400 panel. Open the panel file and scroll down to [Window00]. Then scroll down the {Window00] section until you get to the very last gauge entry. Mine happens to be gauge40=SimIcons!GPS Icon, 236, 10. Drop one line and number in sequence. In this example next gauge would be 41. So type in: gauge41=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 2,2,2,2,./Sound/B767/B767_sound.ini Next scroll down to the [Window03] area. Do the same as above and scroll down this area until you get to the last gauge entry. In my case its gauge08=737-400!Engine Start Right, 273, 17. Now jump one line down and type in: gauge09=gaHud29!HUDtoggle, 71,38,25,25 // adds Night, Day, Off Modes - You can place this whereever gauge10=gaHud29!Timer, 0,0,10,10 //Timer for sound file At last, we need to add a new window area. So scroll to top of file. Last entry should be: window05=mcp. Jump down a line an type in: window06=hud2 Then scroll down just past the [Window05] area and type in: [Window06] Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=202,168 //windowsize_ratio=1.0 visible=0 ident=304 window_pos= 0.33, 0.02 gauge00=gaHud29!hud2B9, 20,20,200,166 //you can massage these numbers to size Unless I've forgotten something, that is it. You should now have the gauge installed. Open FS. Choose default B737-400 aircraft. The overhead panel, Shift 4, will have the to which allows you to go from mode to mode. Shift 6 should bring up the HUD window. You can undock if you wish.
