  1. This is a different request than my previous post. We are seeking current, real-world wildfire pilots who can be available (on call), as part of our training program (fixed wing or helicopters). Good pay and no need to travel or quit your current jobs. You just need a home flight simulation setup using Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D. Interested in learning more? Checkout our website and email me at the following with the subject title "WildFire Pilot". marcus.t@intellictechnolgies.com Thanks! Marcus
  2. Hey there, any of you sim pilots out there also real pilots? We are currently seeking current student pilots or pilots that have recently graduated from a flight school (say within 0-2 years from graduation). The company I work for trains wildfire pilots and we want to get some feedback on your flight school experience. If interested in wanting to help answer a few questions, just send me a PM (I've been around these forums forever!) or you can email me at: marcus.t@intellictechnologies.com (if you already a wildfire pilot... give me a hollar as well!) Happy flyin' Marcus
  3. If you take a look at real-world images on this famed airport, you will see the "checkerboard" is part of the design of the airport. It is not an anomaly. As one who designed and released a version of Kai Tak years ago, it was one of the unique feature that gave the airport character. To remove it, you would need to remove a .bgl file found in the scenery folder but odds are it is not designed as a separate file so you would probably remove many more features than you care to.
  4. I gave her a go and I liked what I saw... installation was so nice compared to AIG. As others have noted seems to be not as many flights and/or as many models/liveries as AIG but a good representation for its roll out. From what I saw was better lighting, better sound and the wheels turn! I did notice after changing the settings to NOT show blank livers or generic liveries, they were still there in force? So not sure what's going on there. AIG has issues too. On my PC it continues to loading never ending Traffic Controllers, endless loop saying there's an update so it loads again. I have to go into Task Manager and close the 4-5 Traffic Controllers that are running. They also need to get this thing out of "alpha". How many more months (or is it a year now) it's been in alpha. But I do appreciate both addons as these are free and simmers have put in 1,000's of hours of their hard work to get these out. Both are good... both have issues. I'll keep playing with both.
  5. Do you have/are you using the latest Alpha version of spadNEXT? I believe that is required to use GoFlight with PMDG's 737. I am starting to set up my 737-600 with Saitek and then I will start on my GoFLight. I would also check their Discord channels for videos, help, ideas, code snippets. I have learned a lot by do that.
  6. The best way I found for me when I was having issues with AIG was starting fresh. Didn't want to as I already had about 10GB of airlines installed. Simply deleting the app and re-installing was not working and I think AIG just threw up their hands as what to do. So I unstalled/deleted the app (both manager and controller). The difference is this time I did a search through my entire C: drive for anything with "AIG" in it. I found several files that are never removed so I deleted them. I guess they were some sort of binding files to find where AIG stuff was installed. A low and behold I was able to finally complete a full install. Granted, I had to re-download all the airlines from scratch but that took just several hours and that's ok. Don't know if that will help you at all but something to think about.
  7. I thought you had made a typo when you said you were upgrading to an i7-2700K. I thought maybe you were saying 12700, ha! I just upgraded FROM a 2700k. From what I read, won't this CPU limit the performance of a 3080?
  8. For all you multi display simmers... So, I have had 3-across 27" 60Hz. 1080 displays for years. All good. One, after 8 years, finally gave out. Thinking of replacing it with a 27" 2560x1440K 165Hz (one with G-sync), placing that in the middle between the two 1080's. Are the different refresh rates gonna screw things up? What if I stretch P3Dv5 or MSFS across all three... will it work or go nuts? Would I have to run all three at 60Hz? FYI - currently using a Nvidia GForce 1080 8GB GPU, i7-2700k at 5GHz, Thoughts?
  9. My experience has found this is an internal issue with P3D (I could be wrong). I found as a work-around was to go into settings and adjust the autogen sliders (in this case it looks like your structures and not vegetation), one notch either way, reload, then go back into settings and set it back to where you had it. Again... a work around for me but not a fix.
  10. If you have FS hardware (or maybe even not), select slew mode in controls an make sure you have no axis assigned to slewing, then you can re-assign what controls you do want to use to slew around with.
  11. Thx for the suggestion. It was already un-checked. I was able to darken them by adding shadows ONTO vegetation. Could be switching from P3Dv4 and P3Dv5 constantly for development I keep seeing the differences right off. Aw-well, nothing I will lose sleep over. :)
  12. I noticed an extreme difference in tree coloring between P3Dv4 and P3Dv5.3. P3Dv5 seem to have perpetually bright, spring colors. Where P3Dv4 have darker greens, one might expect in the summer. Having both platforms installed one can easily see the difference. I am double checking my versions to ensure there is no 3rd party provuct installed that might cause this but I just wanted a general consensus out there. Has anyone noticed any difference? Thx, Clutch
  13. Thread no longer works? Yesterday I was in there (as a guest as far as I know), now it is asking for email password. SO I did and that created a new empty discord account? WHat the? Nevermind - got thru.
  14. Guess it fixed itself? After research I tried a system restore (of course it failed, ha... never use them anymore). So made sure I had latest Windows updates. Started up MSFS and once again the error. But I noticed of the three options, Abort, Retry and Ignore, I never tried Ignore. So I fiqure what the heck. The startup continued and seemed to work fine. I deleted the rolling cache, restarted again and now no error message. Turned rolling cache back on to 8GB, restarted and again no error. So what can I say...
  15. No Steve, the sim is not working. The error will appear during its loading stage so I cannot get to any options. I was able to delete the cache file. I watched I I re-started MSFS. It did create the file once again but it size is now 0kb, however still got the error message? Guess it may not be the rolling cache. Alright, take a little break for lunch before I go back researching this. Mmmmmm.... :(
  16. Ok, I found the cache file, deleted it. Shut down PC - restart pC and re-started MSFS. Guess what - it RECREATED the cache?!?! Exact same number of bytes (8GB)?!?! Oh, I tried MSFS again and same error message. Need to have it not recreate my cache I think.
  17. Great find Steve! Yea, solutions appear to be turn off any active debugging software (which I don't), or delete rolling cache. The only way I know how to do that is from inside MSFS which I cannot get to because of the error. Unless there is a manual way to delete the file/folder? Another option I read was use a restore point. The last one automatically created was when I installed world update 6. Thinking that could fubar my entire MSFS if I try that?
  18. Well, here's an error message I have never seen before. It pops up while loading MSFS: --------------------------- Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library --------------------------- Assertion failed! Program: ....0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftGeospatialTiles.dll File: D:\a\1\s\src\MapControlCore\MapCont...\FlatObj...rce.cpp Line: 108 Expression: !"Failed to decode RVF schema." For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts (Press Retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled) --------------------------- Abort Retry Ignore --------------------------- The sim worked fine last night. Tired in regular and Safe mode. My Community folder is empty. Any techies care to take a stab at this? Clutch
  19. Does anyone know whether the FlyByWire A320 LVARs have change with their latest version? I no long have my throttle quads working. I would ask FBW directly but they have no forums and hopefully they may see this post or maybe someone here can confirm? Thx.
  20. If anything, I am more interested in MSFS than ever before. Why you ask? I went to the FSExpo for the day yesterday and I would say the majority of booths were running MSFS for their demos. It was fun to try out all the latest hardware (and there was a lot), using MSFS as the platform. This gave me a big "booster" shot in the arm to fire up MSFS and do some simming today.
  21. I have seen really no publicity/news releases/etc. about the event taking place next week. I would think they would be hyping this with daily announcements? I'm planning to attend (fully vaccinated & wearing a mask), but I happen to live in San Diego so my decision was fairly easy.
  22. Did I miss this? I opened my Content Manager and discovered an MD-10 (tri-holer), available for free. D/l and installed however when I select the aircraft the "FLY" button greys out so I cannot fly it. Anyone know what's up with this? Snaffu? Not really available?
  23. Just to chime in... I always thought FS2004 was the Golden Age of flight simulation. Ran pretty good right out of the box, friendly community, and lots of freeware development. I think I could grab versions of any kind of aircraft I could imagine. I remember FSX release was a disaster. You think MSFS was bad, ha! Nothing compared to FSX to the point they closed down the franchise. Switched to P3Dv1 as quick as I could when it came how and that had a real bumpy start but stuck through it all the way to P3Dv5.2. Now I am into MSFS and have not looked back. The community is back with loads of freeware. True, more costly for the premium version ($120?), but I find myself buying way less addons than before because the base platform looks so good and all those freeware goodies. Guess I am saying each platform has had its day in the sun and I have enjoyed each one despite the ups and downs. I have them all still loaded (I mean I literally have Flight Simulator 1 through MSFS installed), but I rarely load them up despite me telling myself I will someday. :) It's been a fun hobby and a great journey to see such advances.
