  1. You may need to be at the start point/takeoff position of a runway for that to work. (It may well need to be an active runway.)
  2. in messages i see only a inbox. I can't find outbox or sentbox. sent a message to test but still no outbox or sentbox showing. (I do see the sent message fine. no issue there. but the sent message lands in the inbox) Is this a feature, or something on the to do list? il.
  3. hi Adrian, well met! big things in progress I see. thanks for the explanations. thumbsup! Big changes, but feels ok. Clear good people are at the wheel. I was wondering, have all old posts been moved over? (or will they) Those form a huge compendium of info after all. (Looking at my post-count here makes me think they've all been moved over. So just checking.) Thanks much for all the good work, il.
  4. your f l ight should not start with schiphol ground... an IFR flight should have started with "Schiphol Clearance delivery".
  5. doesnt sound like an fsx message. what app is the message from? and whats the error message?
  6. found this. is for fs2004. if also works in fsx no idea. on Avsim https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004acrp&DLID=113821
  7. its a complete aircraft. unzip. place resulting folder in the: ../Simobjects/Aircraft folder. that folder is the folder in fsx that all other aircraft are in also.
  8. maybe this: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/convert-from-x-file-to-mdl-in-fsx-format.7720/
  9. Those files end with .fsf_VFX_PFX So they are not .cfg files.
  10. to change the crash detection setting: In flight press for menu bar then click: Aircraft Realism settings
  11. just so you know. this thread is not really about downloading via ftp. It was about getting an error when downloading in the normal way. (and that works fine now.)
  12. maybe info here helps: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?238082-Marker-beacon-lights-not-operating
  13. new texture? other textures ok? then missing texture.cfg file in new texture folder. open other texture folder of same aircraft. 'copy' the texture.cfg file from that folder. 'paste' the file into the new texture folder. (if Windows asks "Overwrite file?", click o.k.) done start fsx see the result.
  14. The files you found are for fs2020. Those wont work in fsx. For something better, look in th flightsim.com file library. (link is at top of every forum page) There is a search option there. search for: an225 this is one I use: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=search&fname=tom225x.zip Happy Flights!
  15. this thread mentions "iDisplay" maybe thats an option. also available fir Windows https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?246583-Using-an-Android-tablet-or-iPad-as-a-secondary-display-for-gauges-GPS-Radiostack-etc&highlight=tablet+display+gps
  16. forgot to add link: https://www.simshack.net/support
  17. have a look at the f.a.q. answers here.
  18. Are you sure that his usb adapter works with the harddrive from your old pc? Have you tried plugging it in to the old Pc -via usb- ? If it is a large mechanical drive ( 3.5" Inch) a simple usb to sata cable won't work. Those simple cables are for 2,5" Inch drives and for SSD's. For large 3.5" Mechanical drives you wil need a Powered Usb-Sata connector. One with external wall power supply that plugs into the cable to send power to the drive. The power from the Usb port alone won't be enough.
  19. Saving from GIMP needs to be done correctly. Also the correct alpha needs to be in the file. When finished in GIMP Anchor all layers. Then save (export) the file from GIMP as 24 bit bitmap. Copy the original .dds file to the same folder. Open the copy of the .dds in DXTBMP. You will see the image and the alpha. Click: Image--Import New Image. Select your edited 24-bit bitmap .bmp file. Your new image will show in Dxtbmp. The original alpha will still be there too. Click 'Save' to save the Image and Alpha as .dds from DxtBmp. I don't think you need to click 'save as'. It should automatically be the correct type, with the correct dxt version. (The same type that the .dds file was when you opened it.)
  20. great! btw, Your plane was probably already in he list. When there is no thunbnail file Fsx WILL show the aircraft in the list. It shows a grey standard image. (grey plane with a questionmark on it.) The pink thumbnail is just a good way to spot it. ---- Especially handy if you copy a texture, rename the texture folder, and add a texture section to the aircraft.cfg file. To then edit the copy. With both installed and copied that way the original and the copy would have the same thumbnail file. Confusing. Better to put in the new thumbnail file before editing. --- anyway, well done!
  21. have you ever installed an addon texture? If not, start there. It will give you a good idea of where texture files need to go. And of how to edit the aircraft.cfg correctly. Find a texture for the default 737 for example and install it. Loads of textures for it in the file library. Read the Readme.txt instruction file in the download before installing.
  22. Radioguy, Another way to change the setting while in flight: Press for menu bar -- Click: Aircraft --- Realism settings and select option: "show flying tips"
  23. Thats wrong. To fix, close fsx open file fsx.cfg find line: hide infotext=1 change to: hide infotext=0 close and save the file. start fsx.
