  1. Don't forget to leave a review!
  2. I did some work on this a few years ago for the same reason. You might find the following posts of some interest: Chart Maps of default FSX Scenery objects What are these objects in the landmark.bgl file that I can't identify? The excel file I have that contains all these details is 23 MB. I suppose if you're interested, I could upload this to the file library. Let me know. With all that said, a shameless plug. If you're enjoying FSX and haven't tried out my VC upgrades for the 737 & 747, you really must! Default 747 virtual cockpit upgrade Default 737 virtual cockpit upgrade Trent
  3. Yep. FSX and FSX-Steam Edition are for all intents and purposes identical. It runs on FSX-Steam Edition without any problems.
  4. Hi there, I remember coming across this problem when I was adapting this panel for the defaultimate747.zip referenced above. I've had a very quick play around with it tonight to reacquaint myself with the problem. It seems that the switching between IAS/Mach occurs just fine as long as the autopilot speed hold is NOT enabled. You can circumvent this problem by simply disabling the speed hold switch, making the change and enabling speed hold again. I remember that this irked me, so I amended the panel so that this could be switched regardless of whether the autopilot speed hold was enabled or not to suit my taste. I have no idea if this mimics real life or not. Sounds like this might be what you want as well. Anyhow I tried to revisit my code to see if I could provide you with a quick fix. No cigar. It'll take a bit longer and unfortunately I'm a little busy. I would encourage you to try out my Defaultimate 747 available here in the file library (search defaultimate747.zip). It really is a pretty good adaptation of G Munro's outstanding panel to the default 747 VC if I don't say so myself. If the Defaultimate 747 doesn't float your boat, then get in touch with G Munro and see if he can help you. If you don't get particularly far with that, then post here again and I'll try to take another look at coming up with a fix for you, pending available time. Good luck! Trent CEO - Wheelie Bin Studios
  5. Hi SuporteG123, Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you're enjoying the Defaultimate 747. Regrettably it's very unlikely I'll do anything further with this mod. My life circumstances have changed and I just don't have the time now for the hours and hours this sort of modding requires. In case you're unaware, it is possible to add a 2D panel of the Honeywell FMC you refer to. Although you probably already knew that. Kind regards, Trent CEO - Wheelie Bin Studios
  6. Hi all, For anyone that might be interested, I've uploaded my Defaultimate 747 VC upgrade for the FSX default 747-400 to the flightsim.com file library tonight. This should be available in a few days. Search for defaultimate747.zip. The key features include adapting G Munro's quite brilliant 747-400 2D Panel V3 (b747-400v3.zip) to the FSX default 747-400 VC, introducing emissive lighting into the VC and fixing a couple of lighting problems with the exterior model. This has been an on-again off-again project which I commenced way before MSFS 2020 was even announced. While I'd like to continue to tinker with it, I really just don't have the time any more. It's perfectly serviceable in it's current state, so don't let that hold you back from checking it out. Perhaps most pleasing is that this package absolves one of the great crimes against Flight Simulation - the abominable hatchet job that was the VC autopilot panel in the default 747-400 has been fixed. It's time for this queen to return to the FSX skies. A couple of screenies below! Trent CEO - Wheelie Bin Studios
  7. Hi there, You need to follow the installation instructions very carefully. Please go back and review the included documentation with the download. If you continue to have problems, send me an email to the address provided in the documentation. Above all else, before trying to install this update, make sure you manually make a back up of your B737_800 folder!!! Trent Wheelie Bin Studios
  8. Hi all, After a bit of a hiatus where life got busy and then I decided to dabble in some bloody medieval warfare in Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, I decided to return to my default 747-400 VC upgrade, integrating G Munro's fantastic gauges (with permission). I realise that with the wonderful freeware iFly 747, as well as with many simmers migrating to FS2020 that there probably won't be a lot of interest in my project. However, I poured a lot of hours into it and I really want to finish it. There may yet be a few people still flying around in FSX land that might like to download this at some point. For those that are interested, see pictures below. If anyone would like to assist in testing (which really means just installing it on your PC, and undertaking a test flight or two) then PM me your email address. Highlights include: *New emissive lighting (night panel lighting) *Fuel Jettison button protect covers *Switchable & dimmable MFD screens *Functional EFIS buttons *Most of the buttons on the overhead are functional and animated *Working display lights on the overhead panel *Working and functional master and caution warning lights *Tidied up autopilot panel (it's a hot mess in the default VC!) Stay safe everyone! Trent
  9. Hi there, Thank you for your interest in my upgrade for the default FSX 737. It's difficult to diagnose this on the information you've provided. Below are just a couple of things I can suggest: Please make sure you install over the original b737_800 folder (after making a copy first of course). Please make sure you have followed the installation instructions provided closely. In your panel.cfg file, make sure either gauge31 OR gauge32 is commented out with the //. I suggest that gauge32 is commented out (leaving gauge31 active). If those aren't there, then double check you have copied over the upgraded panel.cfg file. Make sure the SwitchState folder has been copied to your panel folder. Make sure you have copied the fx_vclightha.fx to your FSX\effects folder Try those out and let me know how you get on. Trent
  10. Hi there again, I suspect I might have misunderstood your question. In addition to my earlier response, I want to make it clear that the Defaultimate 737 install includes an upgraded VC with many many switches and knobs now animated. If you install the Defaultimate 737, it will not work properly with Alejandro's VC. If you want, you can have both the Alejandro Rojas Lucena upgrade installed as well as the Defaultimate 737. You will need them in two separate folders under your /SimObjects/Airplanes folder (for example b737_800_defaultimate). If this is something you want to do, then keep in mind that you will need to make some changes to the following files: aircraft.cfg - requires a number of changes to the title, ui_type and ui_createdby from memory. These changes need to be made for every single livery in this file. panel.cfg - requires the directory to be updated for gauges 34, 35 XMLSOUND_Default.ini - requires directory to be updated for each sound So, as you can see, there is a bit of mucking about. So, it is possible if that is what you want. Why not make a back up of your existing Alejandro Rojas Lucena install, put it away somewhere safe. Try out the Defaultimate 737 using the steps in my earlier response, and if you don't like it, you can always restore the Alejandro Rojas Lucena upgrade. Let me know how you get on and what you think of my upgrade! Trent CEO - Wheelie Bin Studios
  11. Hi there, The Defaultimate 737 was intended to be an upgrade of the FSX default 737-800. For that reason, the recommended install is over an original copy of the b737_800 folder. If you no longer have the original copy of the b737_800 folder and have installed the Alejandro Rojas Lucena upgrade you have a couple of options: 1) Back up the existing b737_800 folder that contains the Alejandro Rojas Lucena upgrade. Put it away somewhere safe. 2) Try to install the Defaultimate 737 over your existing b737_800 folder making sure to carefully copy all files from the download package. I can't really see any reason why this shouldn't work, even over the top of the Alejandro Rojas Lucena upgrade as long as you copy all files from the download package. 3) However, if step 2 doesn't work then restore the backup you made in step 1. Alejandro Rojas Lucena included an uninstall option which should revert your b737_800 folder back to original. Then try installing the Defaultimate 737. 4) If none of the above work, you'll really need to get your hands on an original b737_800 folder by perhaps reinstalling a temporary copy of FSX somewhere and extracting the folder that way. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Good luck! Trent CEO - Wheelie Bin Studios
  12. I agree with mrzippy, contact the authors and let them know. However, what you have identified with the animation working correctly with one panel and not the other suggests that the animation in some way is reliant on gauges (probably a variable within a gauge). I'm speculating, but what you could try is to compare the two panel.cfgs from the respective gauges and see if anything in there points to animation control. If you can copy the controlling gauge from the analogue panel to the glass panel.cfg, you might be able to get this sorted. It's still a long shot, the controlling gauge may be very difficult to identify. Good luck! Trent
  13. Hi all, I've followed with great interest the arrival of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Based on early community feedback I have decided to hold off purchasing this but eagerly await the resolution of these teething issues. I think this hobby has a great future. I'm curious about a couple of things: 1) What is the terrain mesh complexity/level of detail? Comparable to stock FSX (38m)? An order of magnitude greater? 2) What is the reason for the super large install? Lots of large texture files? Scenery files? Really large default aircraft file sizes? Thanks all! Trent
  14. Hi Eduardo, I'm pleased you have an interest in the Defaultimate 737. The installation is a manual process as I didn't employ an auto installer. As such it requires that you copy required folders and files very accurately. The steps to be followed are described on page 5 of the manual included with the download package. **Please be sure to back up your original B737_800 folder before trying to install** Based on what you've described, perhaps you could try to ensure that: 1) The fx_vclightha.fx file in the download effects folder has been copied to your FSX\effects folder 2) The SwitchState folders were copied over into the B737-800/panel folder 3) The panel.cfg file has been copied into your B737-800/panel folder If this doesn't resolve your issues, feel free to email me at the email address included in the download documentation for further assistance. Good luck! Trent Bennett CEO - Wheelie Bin Studios
  15. Well done, great eyes! You've spotted my enhancements to the autopilot which was just a real mess in the default VC. While Alejandro Rojas Lucena's improved 747 served as a great inspiration to me, the enhancements to the default VC that you see are mine and mine alone. However, I am utilising most of the gauges in G Munro's fantastic 2D 747-400 panel (with permission - available from the flightsim.com library - search G Munro to see all his fantastic panels). A couple more progress pictures below. I'm hoping to release in the next couple of months. Trent
  16. Hi all, The team at Wheelie Bin Studios (made up of just me actually) has been hard at work (more plodding along really) enhancing the default 747-400. We're suckers for punishment and truthfully, if we (me) had known how long this endeavour might take, probably wouldn't have started it! Anyhow I've been able to add emissive lighting to the default 747-400 VC, something it hasn't had before. The first screenshot below shows the panel lighting on. The second screenshot is a comparison screenshot with only the cabin lighting on. This provides the ability to texture some great looking panel lighting into the VC. My own texturing ability is pretty poor (as evidenced by the screenshot below). It's also why the various switches and knobs are lit up like a Christmas tree. At this point in time, I've spent very little effort on the texturing and the intention is to have all of that tidied up. If anybody would like to collaborate with me and have a go at enhancing the night textures, pm me! No previous experience required! :) Before anyone points out the obvious, I'm fully aware I may not complete this project before Flight Simulator (the new one) comes out :). I've started this thing however, and I'll see it through to completion! Happy flying everyone!
  17. Hi Terry, My thoughts probably won't help you much but for what it's worth, here goes. If the landing light illumination is caused by an effects file (eg. fx_landing.fx) file, then I believe those can be opened up with notepad and edited. Amongst other things, I think such files have parameters around the direction of effect. You would have to investigate to see what the file being called is, and I think you can find it in the aircraft.cfg file. This might be worth investigating. However, as these files are called upon by all sorts of different aircraft, if you make amendments to suit the new download, you'll break it for all other aircraft. I'm probably wrong but hey, this might be useful to you! I actually really like dogdish's earlier idea as well. If you are going to experiment on any fx files, please do make a backup!! Trent
  18. Hi all, I have begun a new default VC enhancement project for the default 747-400. Some of you might be familiar with my first project - the Defaultimate 737 (search defaultimate737.zip in the file library). As complex aircraft systems and coding are really not my strengths, I got in touch with G Munro in order to seek his permission and collaboration in adapting the default 747-400 VC for use with his fantastic 747-400 2D panel. If you're unfamiliar with G Munro's work, you really must check his panels out. Search G Munro in the file library for some wonderfully detailed panels. I'm seeking expressions of interest for development assistance and beta testing. If you have any familiarity with 747-400 systems and processes, any coding or texturing ability or just have an interest in the 747 and would like to beta test, then please PM your interest and email address to me (for goodness' sake, don't post your email address in a public forum! :)) Early results are pleasing. Refer to the screenshot below. Note the tidied up autopilot section (it's just an ugly hot mess in the default VC), new warning and caution indicators, adjustable autopilot bank limiter knob, reworked CRT screen select switches and of course the fabulous new screens designed by G Munro. What you can't see are that all EFIS knobs and buttons are functional and animated where appropriate, the CRT screens are dimmable and the autopilot disengage bar is functional and animated. I've also amended the lighting on the external 747 aircraft model so that they work now correctly. There is lots to come, including making most of the overhead panel functional, animated and with appropriate button lights. If you're interested in this project and would like to get involved, PM me and I'll be in touch with you in the coming weeks. Stay safe everyone. Trent
  19. Hi there, I would get white water flashes when crossing through 1500 feet or something like that, where only the water flashed white once. I believe it was related to my use of DX10 and the water shader kicking in at a particular altitude. Are you using DX10? The DX10 fixer (which I'm a big fan) of addressed this in the recent 5.2 release. https://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/2019/11/23/version-5-2/ As you'll see on this page, one of the changes was "Workaround for occasional water white flashes". I hope this helps. Of course it could be something else... Trent
  20. Hi cobalt, Sounds like you got it working, although I can't explain why it wouldn't work in the NAMW scenery folder, it does for me. This is how it looks in my FSX: As you can see, Microsoft didn't exactly do a great job with the texturing here, and there is no real torch model. It's a low res, low poly model. Someone might be able to enhance the textures, but unfortunately I don't have those sorts of mad phat skeelz. If your Lady of Liberty doesn't look like the above, try the following steps: 1) Return everything to normal. Delete the LasVegas_SOL.bgl. Paste the original textures back into place. 2) Fire up FSX and make sure you get the same old silhouette of the green goddess at night. 3) Close FSX. Paste the new nv13b.dds and nv13b_lm.dds into FSX\scenery\NAMW\texture. 4) Fire up FSX. The Statue of Liberty should now have disappeared like below. If it hasn't, something has gone wrong. Get back to me if this is the case. 5) Close FSX. 6) Paste the LasVegas_SOL.bgl into either FSX\scenery\NAMW\scenery or the addon folder as you did previously. 7) Paste the nv13b_sol.dds and nv13b_sol_lm.dds textures into either FSX\scenery\NAMW\texture or the addon folder as you did previously. 8) Fire up FSX and see if Lady Liberty has returned to her nocturnal pedestal. If it suits your taste better, it is possible to get our lady to look a little brighter at night like below. To do this you will want to have the same day time texture file (nv13b_sol.dds) as the night time texture file (nv13b_sol_lm.dds). So, make a copy of the nv13b_sol.dds file and save it as nv13_sol_lm.dds. I hope all this makes sense. Good luck! Trent
  21. Hi cobalt, Let's see if we can get this resolved for you. Based on what you're describing, it sounds like the texture files haven't been properly copied over. Make sure that you've done the following: 1) From the download file, copy FSX\scenery\NAMW\scenery\LasVegas_SOL.bgl to your FSX installation directory\scenery\NAMW\scenery\ 2) From the download file, copy the 4 texture files from FSX\scenery\NAMW\texture\ to your FSX installation directory\scenery\NAMW\texture\ Step two is going to replace 2 texture files in your texture folder. When asked whether you would like to overwrite or replace these files, be sure to say yes. I have provided the 2x original files that are being replaced in the download too, so you don't need to back them up. That should resolved any problems you're having. Let me know how you get on. Trent
  22. oh man...don't give me ideas for another mini-project to start! :) Let's hope that they nail those effects in MSFS2020!! Trent
  23. Hi all, I finally figured out the best way to fix this issue. If anyone is interested, I explain the method here. I'll upload the fix to the file library in the coming days: lasvegas_sol.zip. Cheers. Trent
  24. Hi Tim, I appreciate you checking that out for me. I haven't checked out the alternative because I've been obsessed with trying to fix this one. Stuff like this burns my brain...I'm getting close to finishing up with this and then I might check it out. As you can see below, I pretty much have a fix...but I'm currently exploring whether there is a more elegant way to fix it with the people over at fsdeveloper. Trent
  25. Hi all, When I've only got a couple of mins available and I need to unwind, I often just buzz the strip in Las Vegas at night. I like the lights and trying to navigate my helicopter through. I hope to visit Las Vegas (all the way from Australia) in the next two years. Something that has irked me is the Statue of Liberty at the New York New York hotel. It's all black at night. See attached image. I've tried to confirm if this is a bug (or just isolated to my set up), but there appears to be no information on this on google. I've tried googling images to see if anyone else has taken screenshots to confirm this bug, but the few images I found are inconclusive. So can anyone confirm if they see the same thing in their FSX set up? Trying to confirm if this is a bug. If so, are there any known fixes? Ta! Trent
