So Its been a super long time since I posted anything here... but the way I keep myself coming back to FSX is to have this one scenario - that i had started way back with FS 5... To start at KISP, which was the closest major airport to my home town, in a single engine cessna or whatev and to just airport hop. First east on Long Island, then across the sound, and then north.
I currently am doing that same flight using real world weather. I switch airplanes between a few freeware/payware models, but they are all single engine props.
I had been away from it for a while, but I am currently at Halifax, and about to depart for whatever I see next on my GPS. It gives you a lot of take off and landing practice, VFR and basic nav practice as well. Plus as you get farther north, the scenery change becomes more noticeable.
Its very relaxing, and with no real destination in mind, the only limit is to how long I can dedicate to the flight. Id love to get around the world this way, but there are a lot of airports to cover... Ill settle for getting to Europe, maybe down to the Canary Islands.
