  1. Same... I have had the most fun with this sim, since FS95... no idea why but I completely enjoy just picking a place, picking a direction and going.
  2. Hopefully I can help some. I will say that a lot of the old key bindings and GUI layout is no longer the same... so that will take a bit of getting used to. 1 Where is the manual-- No idea 2 Where is the Menu/Options bar, usually along the top of screen -- No longer with us . 3 How do I change aircraft without starting over -- You cant 4 How do I switch to 2d cockpit -- You cant 5 How can I get it to talk to (interface with) my Thrustmaster or CH products controller -- Options, Controls. Scroll to the right at the top of the screen to set your bindings. 6 How do I re-position an aircraft on a map and set altitude, heading and speedhave not tried the slew features y 7 How do I find a helicopter that works with this program-- None available yet 8 How can I speed up the loading time -- Installl on an SSD 9 How do I set up another screen for forward view -- No idea 10 How do I re-play a scenario (eg ILS) 11 How do I refuel -- Call for fuel while on the ground 12 How do I set failures or realism -- Options, Assistance. Go through all the drop downs to choose the level of difficulty and set failures 13 Where is the Instrument panel dropdown 14 Where is the help menu 15 Where is the list of shortcut keys -- Options, Controls. There you can set them to anything you want
  3. Yikes! I have been there and know that feeling my friend. Back when I had my Area51 Alienware (06 or 07?) I thought it would be all ready for FSX... swing and a miss! the poor taste left in my mouth from that experience still sticks with me.. But I will say that I have flown LGA-JFK-FRG-ISP in some custom weather, and it was amazing! Hopefully you get to experience it in all its detailed glory.. I was worried that this was going to be FSX all over for me, but I am extremely surprised with how its working so far!
  4. So Its been a super long time since I posted anything here... but the way I keep myself coming back to FSX is to have this one scenario - that i had started way back with FS 5... To start at KISP, which was the closest major airport to my home town, in a single engine cessna or whatev and to just airport hop. First east on Long Island, then across the sound, and then north. I currently am doing that same flight using real world weather. I switch airplanes between a few freeware/payware models, but they are all single engine props. I had been away from it for a while, but I am currently at Halifax, and about to depart for whatever I see next on my GPS. It gives you a lot of take off and landing practice, VFR and basic nav practice as well. Plus as you get farther north, the scenery change becomes more noticeable. Its very relaxing, and with no real destination in mind, the only limit is to how long I can dedicate to the flight. Id love to get around the world this way, but there are a lot of airports to cover... Ill settle for getting to Europe, maybe down to the Canary Islands.
