  1. I think he missed a step. His cals were based on cruise altitude where they should be cruise altitude minus landing field elevation. Not a problem if you are landing in Miami, Denver is a different story. Other than that it was well done.
  2. Try starting a flight at KDEN, then "go to" your new airport and see if they show up. I cannot remember if FSX geo-locks objects or not, I know FS9 does.
  3. The texture.cfg is only needed if you are storing textures for one livery in more than one folder. That way you can put common textures in one folder and not need a copy in each livery folder. Creating new textures will not work unless those texture names are called out in the .mdl file. If you have Model Converter X (and you should) you can open the .mdl file in MCX and see what all textures are called out by the .mdl. Bottom line, if the developer did not assign night textures to the model there is no way for you to add them. peace, the Bean
  4. Look in the main Texture folder for files named runwaynn_hw.bmp. HW=hard winter. peace, the Bean
  5. FTR, 24bit images have a color palette of >16 million colors, 8bit images have 256. When you converted to 8bit a lot of near-black pixels were converted to pure black, 0,0,0 RGB. FS treats pure black pixels on 2D panel bitmaps as transparent, basically so you can see out the window. 24bit images work OK as panel bitmaps. peace, the Bean
  6. That download calls for the FS9 Extra gauges which have a different file name than the FSX Extra gauges. Copy the FS9 gauges from FS9 to the panel folder in FSX and you should be good to go. peace, the Bean
  7. Is the starter switch in the 2D panel? I bet not.
  8. Actually it is using gauges that are included in the download. The panel.cfg calls them from a file named EXTRA.cab. This is not the default FSX Extra gauges. That said, the panel.cfg does call for a couple gauges that do not exist in that .cab file. gauge08=EXTRA!Starter, 189,507,67,64 ...and... gauge11=EXTRA!Low-Voltage-Light, 424,495,25,24 ...are not in EXTRA.cab. You could 'borrow' the starter switch from the default Extra if you wish. It does appear that A.F.Scrub 'borrowed' most of the gauges from the default Extra anyway. *cough* copyright violation *cough* peace, the Bean
  9. No they are not. Take a look at London City, EGLC. That said, 5 x groundspeed is a good guide for vertical speed until you lock on the glideslope. peace, the Bean [added]Also, in aviation glideslopes are referred to in degrees, not percents. Why complicate things by having to convert between the two?[/added]
  10. Did you know that you can access the Learning Center from outside the sim? Navigate to [your FSX installation]\FSWeb\LearningCenter and start clicking around. The LC is HTML so you can view it in your web browser of choice. peace, the Bean
  11. Where exactly, and how do you edit the FSX.cfg for scenery addon locations? Been doing this a long time and this is the first time I have ever heard this. peace, the Bean
  12. Does the Lear come standard in P3D? Not according to their website- http://prepar3d.com/vehicles/
  13. [quote=Mac6737;2088866...it looks like THIS: [models] normal=lear45 Is this the FSX LJ45 or the FS9 LJ45? peace, the Bean
  14. Have you tried hitting Ctrl+Spacebar to reset your view? peace, the Bean
  15. Actually, that is not at all what you said... I am saying that I do know those files are causing the issue.
  16. 1) Place your .xml file in the same folder as bglcomp.exe 2) Holding down the Shift key, right mouse click in that Window and you should get an option to "Open command window here" 3) In the command window type - bglcomp filename.xml 4) press Enter 5) If you cannot sort out what is displayed in the command window, take a screenshot of it and post in a reply. peace, the Bean
  17. There are six files named 0_kdov_n.bgl Move them out of the active scenery folder and the fuel issue goes away. peace, the Bean
  18. My guess would be that you have some scenery (maybe photoreal) that is missing some mipmaps that would be used at that zoom level. Try disabling any scenery addons and test. peace, the Bean
  19. The compiled *.bgl file should show up in the same folder as bglcomp.exe. There are two possibilities to start with. One could be the location, simply to test. Copy the folder containing bglcomp.exe to your Desktop and try running it there. Make sure to copy the entire folder, not just the .exe. The second possibility is that there is an error in your .xml file. If you run bglcomp.exe from the Command Prompt that "code box" will not disappear and you can read the error message that is thrown by the exe. peace, the Bean
  20. Not sure what this developer is trying to accomplish here, however I think the answer to your issue lies in the Alpha channel of fuselage_clear.bmp. I would verify that you are using the Alpha channel that came with the package first, then you might try tweaking it to fix your flickering. Any part of fuselage_clear.bmp that you do not want showing, paint the Alpha channel pure black, 0,0,0. peace, the Bean
  21. Maybe it is not a scenery issue, does this happen with all airplanes? Recommend you test with a default plane. Also, there is nothing in FSX to prevent fueling when a door is open. In fact, if you try to open a door while your airplane is in a fuel trigger it will automatically close. peace, the Bean
  22. Larry, if you like Bob Reeve, and a good book, you should look at Success on the Step. It is the story of Bob Munro and the founding of Kenmore Air. Lots of great stories about doing crazy things like landing float planes on glaciers, etc. https://www.giftshop.kenmoreair.com/store/p17/Success_on_the_Step_%28Hardcover%29.html They also have a soft cover that will save you about $8 I think. Not sure if it is available as an e-book, never looked. peace, the Bean [added] Here is a better link... https://www.giftshop.kenmoreair.com/store/c4/Accessories.html [/added]
  23. Given the dearth of info you have provided I would guess that you have a window_pos= line that will override the position= line. peace, the Bean
