  1. I am rather sad that a seriously good flightsimulator uses a game/movie theme for the long load up on startup. It is most likely my age bias that I still hang on to the peculiar notion that flightsim 2020 remains a serious flight simulator and not just a game with some aspects of actual aviation somewhere inside it. At least with Top Gun Maverick it was real planes (mostly). Guess I am just not a Dune fan- oh dear.
  2. Hi FastDoc, how are things flying? I retired from light commercial flying with around 3200hrs and only a couple of years ago retired as a Family Physician also so now have loads of time for MSFS2020 and RC plane building and 3D flying so nice to read your messages above? I do mostly IFr flying in flightsim but also owned a Maule for about 800 hours of time back in the 80s. My favourite owned plane except for a Lazair Ultralight (pure fun)
  3. DId you solve the problem, you did not say whether you left MSFS2020 running or how often you reboot the whole computer etc, sometimes certain caches need cleaning up from a computer reboot.
  4. I have had that happen, I shut MSFS down rebooted windows and tried again, I presume it clears some caches and then it worked OK. Just FYI.
  5. As an ex-commercial multi-IFR /flight instructor all one can say on this one was PP judgement from your pilot. WT on board, density altitude, fuel on board, known climb rates etc all ignored plus heading to night--you are lucky to be alive!!
  6. @budreiser you just have to wait for a quiet time, it will happen, mine did the same so I got up in the middle of the night and everything downloaded fast.
  7. Doing the larger slow files first and making lots o cups of tea!!
  8. Unfortunately you are in the MSFS2020 forum not the FS9 forum but if you do happen to use Foresight I discovered recently that you can export from Flightradar24 directly to Foresight and then save in a format that MSFS uses directly, then email it from the IPAD app to yourself open it on your desktop and load into FS2020 so you have a large market of complex IFR flights with all the waypoints. Just one way to save copying waypoints the hard way.
  9. No answer but share the frustration, oftentimes I resort to HDG control to follow the flightplan on LNMP in preference, but occasionally I have watched as the autopilot still on NAV took me on a wild goose chase and occasionally picked up a waypoint I had just missed on take-off. But most of the time there just seems to be a conflict and it does add to the challenge in an IFR flight. I tend to regard it as one of life's challenges. I also use Navigraph and Simbrief and it would be nice of they all spoke clearly to each other with MSFS2020.
  10. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times, this story does not sound correct, would you like to add where you purchased the original program from??
  11. @tiger1962 YEs I do that but always in combination with LNMP as I can bring up the destination aerodrome and check the winds on the ground and do any mods to the flightplan then export it back to msfs and between the two I usually get an interesting flightplan. But I still mostly end up requesting serious altitude decreases to get down to final flightpath capture. Oh well keeps us from just sipping coffee or beer (whoops I did not say that word) while we fly.
  12. No problems with the navigraph panel here, after creating in Simbrief then loaded flightplan to MSFS and to LNMap and watching IFR flight on NAvigraph panel (even moved off to another monitor with the ATC panel, and LNMap at same time. Working very well.
  13. OK--have to say the more I am using it the more impressed I am with seeing so many jetliners enroute at all altitudes. Just great for all IFR stuff for sure and VFR at altitude. Down low and scud running, well it is not going to make a big difference (my opinion anyway).
  14. In the end I had very good responses to a bunch of questions and decided to keep the program, for all smaller airports I switch back to old settings and for major airports (IFR Airliners etc) I use FSTraffic. So Simple Traffic is still very useful, but the after sales service was excellent from Just Traffic.
  15. I think I have to agree, I do already have Simple Traffic and am uninstalling the FSTraffic as we speak and asking for a refund. I sent them a bunch of questions and issues but we will see what the response is after the weekend.
  16. Dont like that you have to go and change all the old traffic settings, (when you want to use their software) secondly after installation my program kept bombing, have sent two tickets in days apart, no response and ai am requesting a rebate. Also in the ad it states it can be installed on a different drive from your main FS but during installation it does not let you, the zip file gives you some more options. This is a large download. I had to clear some memory first. Given the comment above, perhaps we are seeing a release too early--are we the beta trial?? I am going to request a rebate if they ever answer me.
  17. I use an Oculus Quest 2 and very happy with it especially due to price.
  18. Yes you can fly from one side of the States to the other and use a speedup from several sources and still get ATC enroute, obviously if you are at 16X it might get confusing, but I often guesstimate an access point to get back in and get a clearance for an IFR approach. You might try FsSimrate as an option,
  19. Your hangar will never be stocked well enough. Do you ever open a packet of potato chips and only eat one or two??? ;)
  20. In response to the Quest2 being "fiddly" here is my routine, it is simple and works every time. In general I prefer to fly with the Honeycomb Alpha and Honeycomb throttle set up and I have found the VR access to flight controls and instruments unrealistic, so I fly "blind" and remember where my controls are (although sometimes I can be heard swearing trying to reach the flap settings). Setting up VR Set audio to Quest headset Turn on Quest2 Start FSim and get to a flight Put on Quest 2 and select correct monitor Use Quest controllers to activate seat position and start VR Start flight Hang up controllers and fly using MSFS Joystick of choice Just remember where throttle and prop control etc, are. After flight, end using ESC and then turn off Quest2 again. That seems to take any hassle out of it. This is just for general info for Quest2 users. JD
  21. Hi--interedsted to hear what you felt where the significant improvements over the Quest and were you talking about a Quest2 or an earlier one?? I am still using a Quest2 and cannot afford a Reverb!!
  22. Did a search right there for a downed aircraft, many years back in. Maule M5-235, difficult mountainous area for concentric searching around mountains at different elevations. Plane found later by a helicopter north of our area.
