  1. "I feel that 500 repaints for 1 aircraft (the FBW a320 f.i.) is substanial" That is pretty much my point right there. 500 repaints for a single aircraft! Do you not see the irony? I would gladly take 100 aircraft with a single repaint! My post was just lamenting that true traffic and AI customization will likely be some time in coming. Yes, the bugs come first, and those take time. And you are correct - at 1 year, MSFS is still in it's infancy. I hope that MS management do not forget that "As real as it gets" (the MS slogan for Flight Simulator at one time) involves much more than eye-popping scenery graphics (which are quite awesome).
  2. In particular, I miss ... - capabilities of AI resources like WOAI, MAIW. Getting really sick of the word "generic" and the butt-ugly FSFW95-looking AI models. - capabilities of utilities like voicepack - ability to save a flight, anytime anywhere and return to it later with every aspect of the flight intact. -- availability of huge numbers of freeware aircraft and repaints. Kinda depressing when one of the largest repaint offerings seems to be the artwork on the coffee cup in the friggin' cockpit cupholder. I know these things are (might be) coming and take time to (possibly) develop, I'm just being a bit nostalgic.
  3. Never mind. Looks like it turned into a full reinstall.
  4. Has anyone ever seen this one before? All my drives as well as internet connection are online and nothing has been changed. Only thing out of the ordinary is that I haven't run the sim in maybe 3-4 weeks.
  5. I had the same issue - flying in a straight line but with a continuous left bank. Changing settings from Legacy to Modern fixed this for me as well.
  6. Thanks for all of the replies and suggestions. Looks like its "process of elimination" time! I recall memory leaks as being one of the many possible gremlins in FSX... wonder if this could be an indicator of something similar? I have a relatively new and (to this point) very stable system. I've also resisted the temptation to go totally crazy with addons - another FSX lesson learned the hard way! Will keep everyone posted.
  7. Well, I was pretty excited about 1.12.13.0 in that much of the schizophrenic behavior of the autopilot seems to have been addressed (except for the B748, which still "porpoises" wildly on AP). My concern now is that I have attempted 3 long haul flights (KORD-EGLL) in the now docile B787, and each time, I get a CDT - I should clarify not exactly a CTD (straight to desktop crash), but an error that comes up indicating an unreadable memory location, which when acknowledged, shuts down the sim. Each time, this has occurred about one hour into the flight. It does not appear to be location dependent and is the first time seeing this problem. Has anyone else with CDT issues seen this type of error message?
  8. Thanks, plainsman. I (for now) fly the A320 very little. I currently spend most of my time in the Caravan, Baron and Kingair, so I don't encounter that scenario.
  9. Where exactly is "selected" vs "managed" determined? If by managed you mean AI assistance, no I am not using it.
  10. The more I see this, the more it appears that the autopilot has a bug that interferes with it's being able to perform a coordinated turn (using ailerons, elevator and rudder together). Almost like there is no elevator control, while the rudder and ailerons end up fighting one another.
  11. To reply to the previous input... -do you have any of the Assistance settings switched on - no, all are off -or AI control from the in-flight drop-down menu? - no AI control -Does it fly normally with the AP disengaged? - Yes - hand flies just fine with no AP -That's REALLY weird, but what is the aileron deflection? - visually there is no aileron or elevator deflection. Aircraft is not turning or climbing but flying in a straight line. In real life this attitude would be difficult to hold without considerable rudder and aileron interaction, which does not appear to be happening. -Do you have another keyboard to try? it might be a keyboard issue? - Keyboard functions normally. Again, the problem appears ONLY when the autopilot is activated. -BTW, you are not in roll mode are you?? Check the panel. - If you mean, is the aircraft in the process of executing a roll, no. Note the degree of bank in the screenshot. Other than that, the plane is in straight and level flight and, once the autopilot is activated (using only the heading and altitude hold features), then everything goes to hell.
  12. I have what sounds like the same issue. With a simple heading hold AP flight configuration, I can't get the aircraft anywhere near the desired heading, wings are banked left 15-20° (a/c is not turning, though), and, on the external view, you can see the rudder kicked hard left. My joystick (a tried and true Sidewinder) doesn't have anything to do with the scenario. As of two updates ago I now see this problem regularly on what used to be my go-to "reliable" aircraft (Caravan, Baron, Kingair). The autopilot (awful to begin with) seems to have taken a huge step backwards. Winds, aircraft loading and balance are not factors, either.
  13. Thanks, loki. That was to be my default position. I was just baffled as to why there has been so little talk about Windows admin mode with MSFS, given the complexity and overall demands of the sim. One more little box on my list to tick off! :)
  14. Thanks - it is something that I will check for. It's a bit odd that it only manifests itself when the autopilot is engaged, though... (p.s. - where East Tx? I grew up in Orange :))
  15. I was more curious that with the huge amount of externally accessed data required (weather, terrain, photo-imagery, "photogrammetry", etc.), whether or not MSFS would handle this more efficiently if in admin mode. I've seen no mention of this in any of the many discussion forums I've seen, so it doesn't appear to be something to be concerned with.
  16. Thanks, Tim. Rudder axis calibration and sensitivity settings check fine, and all other joystick functions operate normally. It's just when I engage the autopilot that the wings bank left and the rudder deflection kicks in. With the external view I can actually see the vertical stabilizer control surface deflect (always left) as the autopilot is engaged/disengaged. (I tried to show this with the screen shots; they are not very clear). Never saw this behavior before 1.11.6.0 and now it seems to be affecting all aircraft that I have tried so far.
  17. Since the most recent update, I now have the following issue. When locking on to a heading with the autopilot, the aircraft will immediately assume approximately a 15° bank to the left. The rudder control surface will also show a deflection to the left. The aircraft will continue (awkwardly) to follow the selected heading setting, but with the wings banked to the left. This is independent of weather (no crosswinds) and disabling the p-factor and torque realism settings makes no difference. Aircraft is also completely in balance load-wise. Disabling the autopilot causes the control surfaces to center and the aircraft will then immediately resume level flight. Observed consistently so far on the Caravan, Baron and Bonanza.
  18. Does anyone have thoughts or opinions on advantages (or possible drawbacks) to running MSFS in Windows Administrator Mode?
  19. The strange part is that Page Up and Page Down are the default eyepoint keyboard settings for my installation, both the original (first) installation I performed, and the one re-installation I have done. I never touched these key assignments either time. That's why I was wondering if there were something different with these settings depending on what installation source was used (MS Store, disk media, etc.) I've seen comments that there are configuration differences based on what package was used, though I don't know if this includes default keyboard assignments.
  20. I have the Microsoft Store version. I have heard of differences based of which version of the sim being used (?) Don't know if this applies. Overall it's not a huge problem, but it is kind of disappointing. Of all the aircraft in MSFS, I was looking forward to flying the TBM most of all!
  21. Strange. Page Up and Page Down are the default eyepoint height keys for all of my aircraft, and they work flawlessly on all of them with the exception of the TBM issue I mentioned.
  22. I installed the G3000 mod and another issue that persists is when raising or lowering the eyepoint view in the TBM (Page Up or Page Down), the displays go blank and will not turn back on until the aircraft is reloaded.
