  1. Thank you Michael for your kind words. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Sorry for belated reply wasn't online much lately. Khalid
  2. Hi Rupert I was wondering the same, whatever happened to Peer? I even PM'ed him a couple of times but no answer. The last post he made dates 12 January 2023?????????
  3. I found that getting FS2004/FS9 historical aircraft port overs to FSX very rewarding indeed. These are found on the FSX download library on here. The original models -Microsoft stock FS9- are nothing short of perfect with beautiful outlines and fully working in a very stable way, and beautiful fully functional virtual cockpits too. The added bonus is that they are so easy on computer resources. Each one has an interesting story and historical significance so you can dig out the routes they flew and the feats they achieved and try to tackle these yourself. Below are some screenshots of just four of these examples: (Click on images to enlarge) Lockheed Vega 5c Vega Cockpit De Havilland DH88 Comet Comet cockpit Ford TriMotor TriMotor cockpit Curtiss JN-4 Jenny Jenny's cockpit Hope my two cents' worth helps. Best wishes. Khalid
  4. Thank you once more, I do understand what you are saying for I have had to go through the motions myself. Best wishes. Khalid
  5. Many thanks to Jgf, Charlie and PhrogFlyer. I will definitely look up all the paths you recommended. Sorry I wasn't well hence the delayed reaction. Best wishes. Khalid
  6. I do apologise in advance because this is probably not the first time someone asked this question: Is there any good repaint tutorial for FSX? I have Photoshop CS5 and want to add roundels and markings to certain models that come with a repaint kit. I also have FS Repaint V2 but that is neither the easiest nor the most reliable program to use, despite its merits. Thanks in advance for any help. Khalid
  7. Thank you berlopez. It’s just that I like the old site looks better, especially the file section. Thanks again and best wishes Khalid
  8. Yes upon a more careful look one can tell, but at the first glance they are so alike.
  9. Thank you for the link. Pity about the old file layout changed, was much easier as an interface.
  10. Sorry I didn't see the PhrogFlyer's name as the one who did the flight testing. I guess I have to pass on the high praise and compliments paired with an apology for this oversight. I downloaded the model and took it for a check ride at Edwards AFB. Very impressive, love the under-powered effect and the slow jet spool of the era. This is on a par with any payware. What other models does this guy (uenoshing) produce or is there anything on a par with this quality, even by other developers? Khalid
  11. Love it Jan -especially the Sopwiths trio. Well done. Khalid
  12. Wow that’s one quality review and one very thorough flight testing. Hats off. Thank you Nels for this hefty post. A standard raiser for sure. Khalid
  13. Of course! Charity does start at home but I have been away for two years and am totally clueless on how to access files under the new updated design. The old file section layout was the best ever amongst all flight simming websites, hands down. Khalid
  14. This one works fine on my FSX: https://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/107/295 And this one too: https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/18538/fsx-lockheed-l049a-constellation-v11/ Both good sources of freeware, Rikoooo and Fly Away Simulations. The ones recommended by berlopez are excellent too, Cal Classics is an awesome place.
  15. Lovely shot, and a lovely girl, the Centurion. I did a couple of hours on it and comparing to the 172 I always flew, this is a Cadillac. Khalid
  16. May I add an old screenshot of mine to this topic? This was the stock FSX Boeing 737-800 doing the daily trip from GMML to GMMN. A steady model to fly and not heavy on the computer resources.
  17. The Right Stuff. I remember as a child I had a book about the X-15 project which I read from cover to cover many times. Lately I saw it in the absolutely adorable movie "First Man" and that gave an unprecedented representation of how scary it was like to be in the cockpit of this machine doing Mach 5+ at the edge of space.
  18. She's a beauty Phrog! absolutely love this. Although not keen on flying rotary wing on FSX. Khalid
  19. My bad - Apologies. Will remove at once.
  20. 20+ years on, Flight Simulator 2004 still rocks! Wonderful shots, thank you for sharing.
  21. Thank you Nels, Tim, and Grimsel for your inputs. The insight it gave really helped me plan my hardware ahead of MSFS computer build. Best wishes. Khalid
  22. For the great majority of members who are ahead of me and already own and use MSFS 2020, I have a question about storage: I am downloading my copy from Microsoft website, it says I need 150 gigs of hard disk space for the installation files to download. My question is how much a fully deployed, uncompressed, fully featured installation of MSFS 2020 occupies on your hard drive? I am the type who would like to load locally whatever options available so I am talking about the maximum size, with the Premium Deluxe version and 40th Anniversary update? My FSX folder, for example, takes a horrendous 582 gigs off my 1TB ssd! But I have TONS of add ons. One can right-click on the MSFS folder and see this through properties. It is to do with planning my storage allocations. Thanks in advance to any respondents. Khalid
  23. Maybe in the distant future then? or should we abandon all hope? -on a serious note, Jim and as I personally am a big advocate of preserving the trees, and try to conserve paper with religious dedication, I was only hoping for pdf manuals actually. Be well. Khalid
  24. How would it be out of date? Probably bulletins and amendments/addenda kick in?
