  1. Hello mslim I had already loaded the FTXG_FreewareLibs.BGL into ADE but checked again and the T hangar was not in that folder. BUT your note about "other ORBX hangars in this path: :\Orbx Scenery\p3dv4\Orbx Libraries\ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS\Scenery" sent me on a new search. I started checking each file in ModelConverterX and finally found the T hangar in a MISC file. Just proves that even though a file does not have the word "hangar" in it you should still check it out. Thank you again for staying with me on this search!! You helped me find a file that adds more detail to my airport but more importantly taught me some new things and for that I'm very grateful! Take care Ed
  2. Hello mslim Thank you for your help. I opened ADE Open Airport by BGL and went to the location of the airport file. See 1st pic I had identified the file with the desired hangars by moving it to an outside folder which made the hangars disappear. I moved the file back into the correct scenery folder and started P3D then ADE to make sure it loaded. The file is named FTX_FTXG_N30_objects.bgl. See 2nd pic With the airport open in ADE no buildings appear. See 3rd pic You mention looking for a .bgl that says library. I don't see any reference to library. Where should this be located? I opened the Library Object Manager and drilled down to FTX_FTXG_N30_objects.bgl but I get the message "No usable objects found in this file. What am I missing or doing wrong? Thank you again Ed
  3. Hello I'm hoping someone will have a file to share or be able to point me to a source for what I need. This airport is for my personal use only. I live 1 mile north of FA40 and use it for my home base in P3Dv4.5. I have a single open T hangar which works fine but I would like the same shape hangar with a closed door to mix up the view. The closed hangars I have found don't have the flat roof to match my open hangar. I have found a closed T hangar that matches my open T but it's in a ORBX object.bgl and I can't get it to show in ADE. Here are pics of what I have and need. Thank you Ed
  4. Hello everyone I'm still tweaking the small airfield (FA40) that I use for a home base and need your help. I'm looking for small P3D hangars with open doors that allow a plane to enter and exit. I don't need the door to be able to open and close but if it does that is fine. I currently have 1 larger hangar that will hold 2 planes. I would like to add a smaller one, a T-hangar if possible, with a style that will fit in with the small local airport that will hold just one plane. Does anyone have a file to share or can you point me to a site where I can find P3D compatible hangars? Thank Ed
  5. Hi Jim That was exactly what I needed! Thank you for making this change! Take care Ed
  6. Hi Jim Sorry to hear about your graphics card. Hope you get is fixed soon. Thank you for the updated file! I'm going to fire up my flight PC right now and replace the other files. Take care Ed
  7. Hi Jim I hope you and your family are doing great! The hangars have worked out fantastic. I keep tinkering with FA40 and am enjoying the learning experience. I am using your squared off T-hangar as that best matches the real ones. This is the file. storm_resistant_hngr_type2a.jpg If I could ask a favor? Could you change the color from a bare metal/rusting materiel to a light color painted version? Here is a pic of the real hangars. Thank you again for the great hangars! Take care Ed
  8. Hi Ben I agree that a longer stick shaft feels more like a real plane and I think my flying has improved too. I started with a Saitek AV8R for my Mustang pit, see the cockpit builders section, because the grip was really similar to a P-51. I used PVC pipe for the extension. A cover was then added. But, I did not like the lack of feedback and accuracy in the Saitek so I switched to a MSFFB. Hope this helps. Ed
  9. Hi Jim Thanks for the offer of scenery objects. I think I have all that I need for FA40 right now. I have the Orbxlibs but am not sure how to use them just yet but plan to take a long look today. I also have the Orbx freeware airports they are really great. Thanks for all of your help! Take care Ed
  10. Jim, the hangars you posted are working great! Retired and now living in Florida for 5 years, we are originally from Ohio, I'm visiting the MANY airports the Sunshine State has to offer. I have landed at Inverness many times as I wander the state and hope that you post it to the library for download. Now I'm looking for other objects to replace those from FSX that do not appear in P3D. I'm still getting familiar with ADE but being retired I have the time and I love to learn new things. Is there a good source for add on P3D compatible library objects? I'm finding that a lot of what I have for FSX don't show. Thank you again for your help! Take care Ed
  11. Hi Jim Thank you very much for the files and the instructions! I am quite new to ADE and that information makes the process much easier. Take care Ed
  12. Hi Jim Thank you for offering to help! I believe the hangars my friend used came from a file called GA Hangars but I can’t get them to show in the ADE list, in the project screen or in the sim. Here is a pic from my FSX install. And here is the real airport Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated! Take care Ed
  13. Hello everyone A few years ago I was still running FSX and a friend greatly enhanced my local airport, Hidden Lake FA40. I have moved on to P3Dv4.5 and a lot of the buildings from the FSX version do not appear in P3D which I suspected would happen. My friend does not have P3D and cannot update the airport so he sent me the build file. I have the registered version of ADE and planned at a minimum to update the hangar area but I cannot find T shaped hangars. Can someone offer a source for these hangars? Thanks Ed
  14. Hello everyone I have built a P-51 pit, shown here in the cockpit builders section, and have almost all of the sim controls linked to buttons. I'm using W10 and the latest P3Dv4. Where I'm struggling is when interacting with ATC. I can reply to the numbered items as I have buttons setup for 1-0 in FSUIPC. What I can't figure out is how to set a button for the "back', "previous", or "next" options. I have tried to trace the action for those options in FSUIPC, LINDA and SPAD.neXt with no luck. I also tried a mouse macro in FSUIPC but it did not recognize the selection like it does a switch or button. Can anyone offer a solution? Thanks Ed
  15. Hi Luigi and thank you for your kind words regarding my simpit! Yes, I use Air Manager P-51 gauges for my pit that were made for me by a friend. They are not available from Air Manager but I believe they now offer a P-51 set. Also, I'm flying the A2A P-51 in FSX/P3D and you need the A2A L:Vars for these gauges which you can find by using FSUIPC. Air Manager is sold by Sim Innovations found here. https://www.siminnovations.com/ The full details about my build can be found here. https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=40795 Please let me know if you have any questions. Take care Ed
  16. Hi Southy Sorry, I don't make theses for sale. It was just for my own pit. If you want to make your own I can send you detailed pics. Just let me know. Ed
  17. Thanks il88pp! Kenster1092, I use a Saitek stick and rudder pedals but I did build my own throttle. Here are before and after pics. If you have any questions, just ask. Ed http://i.imgur.com/12GfW6R.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JCAvcbZ.jpg
  18. Thank you il88pp! Just like many others I am frustrated with the changes made by PB but I'm trying to move on. As time permits I hope to re-post the previous pics and add a few more as I transition to Imgur. A few days ago I decided I needed/wanted a moving map and weather radar so I added another screen. Here is a pic I took yesterday with just the weather radar as I flew my Mustang around Tampa dodging the daily PM thunderstorm. Take care Ed http://i.imgur.com/Ydv3RZv.jpg
  19. Hi guys Since my last update I've been fighting gremlins and control setup issues. Right now I'm down to 3 controls that are not setup correctly; the flaps and 2 ram air controls. The flaps need 6 positions/detentes and will be setup in FSUIPC and the air controls just need the right L:VARS to work. In the pics below I’m temporarily using a 32” monitor instead of the 46” so I have access under the hood while I trouble shoot the issues. The first pic is using an LED floor light so some details are washed out. You can see my TrackIR camera in the upper left (2 yellow dots on a slant) sitting on the cowl held in place with its magnetic base. The landing gear and lights are finally working and you can see the lights are inverted to reflect a tail dragger. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/IMG_3903a.jpg For the second pic I turned off the floor lamp so the pic is a little blurry but you can now see that the MIP is lighted by the two dash lights mounted under the shroud. These are 120V chandelier bulbs in a housing I made from PVC pipe and the lights are controlled by 2 dimmers, one on each side of the pit. Thanks for looking Ed http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/IMG_3901a.jpg
  20. Hi Fred Nuts! You betcha. Craftsman? Nope, just learned to hide my mistakes better. I have been working on the control setup and running into a few issues like 4 switches performing as they should BUT also activating the landing gear. Still trying to find that one. I did get a little air time the other day and I REALLY like the feel of the extended control stick. It feels so natural! I'm looking forward to my P-51 lifting off soon from FA40. The initial takeoff has been delayed due to life getting in the way but I hope to make the inaugural flight in a day or two. Thank you for the kind words and FA40! Ed
  21. Hello everyone. Well, the pit is in the house and I have started the setup process for the controls. This is taking a LOT longer than I expected! I only have a few controls left to setup but they are giving me headaches! Setting up the gauges using Air Manager was very straight forward. The camera makes the gauges washed out but they are actually darker in the sim. The MIP is displayed on a 27 inch LCD and the oxygen and floor fuel gauges are 7 inch LCD screens. Take care Ed http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/Gauges%20main%20IMG_3695.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/Gauges%20left%20IMG_3696.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/Gauges%20right%20IMG_3697.jpg
  22. Continued from above............ http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/11%20look%20down%20right%20IMG_3561a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/12%20alum%20IMG_3591a.jpg The notch in the cowl allows the lower frame of the 46 inch screen to sit lower. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/IMG_3448a.jpg Since the right side will be against the wall and not seen I chose not to install aluminum. The green you see is cardstock painted to match the interior which shows around the controls panels. This was also done for the left side so bare metal would not be seen. At the right you can see an old desktop control box I modified to handle the 120v needs of the pit. I removed the original switches and ran their wires to the lower left where you can see the back of the “environmental” panel. I added a toggle and light to the pit’s electrical panel that will let me turn this system on/off with one switch. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/13%20right%20wires%20IMG_3520a.jpg And, “The End.” Here you can see the rear fan installed to pull air out of the pit. There are also 2 smaller fans installed at the front under the dash (not shown), separately switched on the environmental panel, to push air into the pit. Years ago when this was my racing pit I found that it can get warm and stuffy. The same fans were installed as a solution. I also have a portable A/C unit in my office with a remote for those days when I fly too close to the sun and get too hot! http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/14%20rear%20IMG_3586a.jpg
  23. Hello everyone Over the weekend I finalized a lot of the work on the pit. It is not complete yet (will it ever be?) but it is to the point that it can be moved from the shop to my office/hanger where it will reside. I took advantage of the great weather and moved the pit from my shop to the main part of the garage so I could take some pictures. The pit is 3½ ft. wide by 6 ft. long and 4½ ft. tall and was built in my 10 by 12 ft. shop. That sounds like a lot of room to work until you figure in the 10 foot long counter top on one side and the workbench, tool chest and file cabinets on the other. That allows 5 feet of workable space and with this project I found myself moving 1-2 things to get to the third. The shop was built for small projects like models but this 1:1 scale model pushed the limits! This pit has to go through an opening in the house 29 inches wide. It will break down into 2 sides, the back, a main base, seat, windshield and dash and be reassembled in my office. You will see some of this in the pics below. Take care Ed The “office” http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/1%20dash%20IMG_3598a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/2%20dash%20IMG_3574a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/3%20above%20IMG_3552a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/4%20left%20IMG_3538a.jpg Left side opened as a door showing the caster supporting the non hinged end. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/5%20left%20IMG_3572a.jpg Next to the seat you can see a small latch. This is used to pull the side tightly closed. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/6%20left%20open%20IMG_3567a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/7%20look%20down%20left%20IMG_3566a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/8%20right%20IMG_3551a.jpg Right side separated from main frame for assembly. Just below the O2 regulator in the white area you can see a rod sticking out of the frame. There is a corresponding hole in the side frame. To install the side I position it on the rod and slide it forward. When the back section is pushed toward the frame it sits on a small ledge for support. There is a 4 inch bolt that goes through the side into the ledge locking the side in place and a 3 inch screw holding the top to the rear section. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/9%20right%20IMG_3581a.jpg http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/egilbert4752/10%20right%20open%20IMG_3582a.jpg
