    Oh. Thanks for your feedback.

Skywatcher, How is FS9 being majorly damaged? I haven't noticed any problems. FS9 runs great, FS8 runs great, except one cannot "lock Spot Plane View or not having the view gradually zoom in on your aircraft). Could you provide examples? Warmest regards, Husky

    Windows 11

Agree with Tom. Like most of us, we are the Administrators of our systems. I've had applications either not launch or function incorrectly which were resolved instantly by "Running as Administrator". Perhaps the issue is one of those many "value-added" features of the newer Windows Releases. Things were much more simpler in DOS, Windows 3.1 up to Windows XP, but I digress.....

I've installed FS8, FS9, and FSX on my Windows 11 System. FSX runs a bit slow, FS9 runs great, and FS8 runs great with a few nuances. I run each program as Administrator. Reloaded all my addons without issue. FSX runs slow because my system is a laptop. Hope this helps.
  5. There is a way to capture METAR, TAF, and WINDS for ActiveSky wxRE. It's a bit cumbersome, but it does work. It involves copying each weather type and pasting it into the respective defmetar.met, deftaf.taf, defwinds.wmo files located in the ActiveSky wxRE Folder. Thoughts?

    FSNavigator

Hi, This may be "very" old, but I use FSNAV in both FS8 and FS9 (and yes, I have FSX/FSTRAMP as well). I discovered a means to "edit" the "aircraft.ini" file to adjust the aircraft listing to pertinent aircraft that I fly, deleting those I do not - and retaining ONLY my changes. After reading a couple discussions regarding the aircraft.ini file issues regarding changes being ignored by appending the original FSNAV aircraft loadset again and again, I determined a means to prevent this from occurring. First, always make a copy backup of the original (even though that's not really necessary, FSNAV will re-write it - BUT...) Second, make your desired changes to the aircraft.ini file located in the FS2004/MODULES/FSNavigator Folder and save it. Once saved, open Windows File Explorer, navigating to FS2004/MODULES/FSNavigator. Lastly, Right-click aircraft.ini file, and select Properties and set the file to "READ ONLY" and FSNAV will not be able to change the file until either deleted, or READ ONLY is removed (using the same method described to set it). Of course, if you want to edit it, just turn off the READ ONLY, edit it, and turn on the READ ONLY back on the aircraft.ini file (if desired). Hope this helps, Husky
  7. Howard, No disrespect, I'm not a troll (and would never troll anyone) and I really wanted to try this software addon. I'm not sure why my AV software pinged it as a virus, but I can ill-afford to have my computer affected. I felt duty-bound to point out my experience to others. You know, "If you see something, say something..." Ironically, I had a friend two weeks ago frantically call me, with a "microsoft tech" (lower case on purpose) on one phone and me on the other. His computer was locked up and playing an audible ominous message to not shut his computer down or else and call to a number to get it fixed. The "tech" was demanding his credit card number, etc. I told him it was ransomware and to hang up on the "tech". He brought his computer to Best Buy where he bought it. My assessment was correct. Sadly, he had not gotten the AV software I recommended. And he wasn't doing anything wrong, just reading a regular news article. The entire endeavor cost him about $400 to get him computer back a week later, which involved wiping the hard drive and bios - with loss of data and installing a complete new loadset. Considering that it was a $2000 computer, what else could he do? If I were ever dissatisfied with any download that somebody posted, I would never say anything about it - just merely unload it and move on. We really appreciate flight simulator enthusiast's contributions to our hobby. I have a few uploads too, not on this site. I do apologize for my pensiveness on the file - ransomware is a BIG DEAL. I'll give the file another shot... Hopefully, it won't get pinged again. Husky
  8. No offense to you friend, That's an interesting take and I appreciate it works well for you, but in an environment where Ransomware and Malware zigzags the web, excuse us if we voice valid concerns when our Anti-Virus tags a file as being suspect. It would be really foolish to load software that your AV states as a security risk. Bottom line, I love to try this freeware addon, but at the risk of having my computer hijacked, that freeware could become a very expensive problem to repair, just to get my computer back online.... Buyer (or freeware-er) beware....
  9. Hate to say this, I was interested in this, but my Anti-Virus Software tagged this file as having a "Trojan" in it... Sorry about that.
  10. Rick, Again, thank you bunches, and well done!! Warmest regards, Husky
  11. Rick, Thank you so much for doing these enhancements for us - we appreciate it. Warmest regards, Husky
