  1. Is this freeware now? I would be surprised if it is.
  2. Roger, when I saw recently you had tackled Prince George, I knew in my water you would give Quesnel a go. Now I can virtually fly up from CYXX and visit my daughter in CYQZ. Great stuff.
  3. https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=757-200+delta&x=16&y=5 when in any doubt Simviation!
  4. You also need the 9.1 patch. It runs just fine on W10 and W11. But I seem to recall that the preview selection screen will not show the desired aircraft. go here https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/15244/microsoft-flight-simulator-2004-v91-no-cd-patch/ and here https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/2795/flight-simulator-2004-update-v91/ Install the second one first.
  5. You haven't done Quesnel yet. I cannot visit my daughter without that.
  6. For me, it is comfortable like an old pair of slippers. It is stable and a flying simulator, not a scenery sim. You can have multiple installs for various eras and it doesn't take up terabytes of data. I use FSX in the main but I do keep going back to 9.
  7. Yes MS definitely peaked freeware wise with FS2004.
  8. Thanks - FSX still very relevant to me at least.
  9. Thank-you! Keeping FSX relevant.
  10. IE? Who uses that these days? Chrome is just fine if you ignore all the anti hype, as is Opera and Brave.
  11. Not wishing to insult your intelligence but it doesn't naturally install to the directory your sim location\FSX\SimObjects. But instead will go to your sim location\FSX\Aircraft. AN easy overlook to make as I've done it myself. Can be resolved by dragging and dropping the files from into another or as I do with older aircraft, create a listing in the [Main] section of the FSX.cfg file to reflect non standard installs. my example is this :- [Main] DisablePreload=1 User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc SimObjectPaths.6=C:\PROGRAM FILES\FLIGHT ONE SOFTWARE\ULTIMATE TRAFFIC LIVE\utLive Aircraft SimObjectPaths.7=C:\Program Files (x86)\12bPilot\SODE\data\SimObjects SimObjectPaths.8=C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE\SimObjects SimObjectPaths.9=SimObjects\HJG SimObjectPaths.10=SimObjects\MAIW SimObjectPaths.11=SimObjects\FS2004 SimObjectPaths.12=SimObjects\Testing
  12. Wasn't there someone at SOH in the not too distant past looking at delving into the FS2004 coding with a view to upgrading at improving the sim in some way..... possibly graphically.
  13. I look forward to seeing your ELLX. :)
  14. I have noticed an uptake in files and interest for FS2004 lately. There is a vast resource of great free files for that sim. I still have it on my PC though I still mainly use FSXSE. Also have P3dv4.5 but cannot warm to its interface. Never got enthused about MSFS for various reasons.
  15. Your reporting is enough to put me off Honeycomb. I didn't like their Soviet way of selling in the first place i.e. place your order and at some time in the future we will aim to fulfill it. I get the impression that the Saitek low standards have been carried forward. Harsh? Maybe but I have been bitten too many times over the years.
  16. https://www.freewarescenery.com/fs2004.html
  17. That link didn't lead anywhere, a common issue with links here, they expire. Can you quote the zip title.
  18. I find no reason to take up MSFS and still run FSX albeit now the Steam edition. I think MS left it too long to allow a follow up to FSX. In my case I have accrued thousands (literally) of $$$ in addons which make FSX look wonderful. What can MSFS offer at this stage other than graphical improvements and from what I see they ain't all that anyway. Very limited selection of a/c and lets be honest about it, it is still a Beta program. I will prob get it later like I did with P3D v 1,3, & 4 and XP11 as I am a flight sim sucker. Also DCS, IL2 Great Battles and IL2 1946. It's an obsession but I am getting better nurse.
  19. With all these addons I feel no urgency in getting MSFS whatsoever. The sim peaked with FSX. Now had MSFS added something revolutionary it may have been different, but apart from fancy scenery I see no benefit. I'm thinking sort sort of career mode or similar, or actual grading system as in real world maybe.
  20. Alas and alack Windows 11 is about 3 weeks away from being announced. :D
  21. Lovely! Although I wish the dodgy crew figures could be removed. Would love to see a decent BV138 too.
  22. Steam for me is marvelous. Any issues it can repair itself. It has worked a couple of times for me. And it is more stable in my experience over FSX Gold which now rests peacefully in the basement.
  23. Anyone considering a similar purchase I would encourage to look at TrackHat https://www.trackhat.org/ which is often overlooked as it has less "time" on TrackIR. I have both and find Trackhat superior. It is robust, nowadays wireless, accurate and not affected by any backlight. Plus it is cheaper! TrackIR on the other hand I find needs constant calibration, is anything but robust with its flimsy feet on the receiver Mine is Velcro'd to the top of the monitor) and very much affected by stray light sources. I have no connection with either company or product. It seems to me that Trackhat never gets a fair shake.
