  1. Hi, all. I have a special interest to make FS98 to run as smooth as I can with Dynamic scenery/traffic. I have made several trials in W7 and XP (this one in a VMWare Virtual machine), but I still have problems. I have a 16 GB RAM Intel i7-7700 3.60 GHZ with a 3GB Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060. (I have also had problems with an ATI-RADEON card in another computer.) The issues I get are especially: · Dark/flashing textures when there are more than 6 aircraft together (In a Tower view, for example). · I have had also G3D.DLL crashes, especially when I change quickly with the joystick hat switch, the view of several aircraft from distance, which might be related. (But for me this is secondary anyway) From what I have read this part seems to be related with FS98 being a 16-bit game while graphic cards normally use 24-bit Depth calculations. So my questions are: · Has any of you tried somewhat busy airports in FS98 with some success?. · In which hardware/software configuration? With which ones? · Have you solved the G3D.dll crashes with other video Cards?. · Does any of you know where are the limitations for running FS98 at max? · Processor/Graphic card RAM And especially, for those who know well FS98 software architecture. What could be the best Processor/Graphic card configuration for playing FS98 at maximum? Thanks and regards.
  2. Thanks very much again. I will try. Regards.
  3. Hi thanks for all the help, but this is a nightmare. I'm stuck on the first option (And the other ones about re-registering don't seem to be the problem and have other issues for me as well). It says locate ActiveX Installer (Axinstsv) but in services.smc there's a huge list and there doesn't seem to be anything similar. Could you tell where I should look for that installer (or another option fo find it?). Sorry for all this and regards.
  4. Yes I'm using that. The only problem is I have too many sparkling textures in the distance. But some for most things, FS98 works better there than in Windows 7. (I will maybe ask about that some day). Talking about support, maybe here some of you could help me? I have just installed Twrview.zip, from the libraries here for FS98, but it doesn't work. It just does nothing. (It's supposed to be launched within FS98, typing "Alt+T" or externally). If I start it within FS98, it does nothing, and if I launch it externally without having loaded FS98, it seems to have been correctly installed, although I can't make use of it, because I haven't started FS98. But If I start FS98 and then start TwrView, it just tells me "Runtime 429 error. ActiveX component can't create object". Do any of you know what (I have the VB 5.0 and Mfc40 Runtime libraries installed, as the program requires). Thanks and regards
  5. Thanks very much both. Yes it seems there's a kind of issue with aircraft and panels. Let's see if a miracleous update happens for FS98. Regards.
  6. Hi (sorry for the nightmare of questions.) But so you mean that if I install DX9, FS98 will look for DX9 if it fits better to it, while the other programs which worked well in DX12, will remain working the same? (Because for instance, FS2000 works in DX12, but only in windowed screen, I really don't know what it will do when I install DX12.. As an example, I had installed in a Windows 7 PC, which I know suits FS2000 quite well, but one day, FS2000 stopped working in 3D Hardware Acceleration mode, without me being aware of any change. So I'm afraid any change could spoil my FS2000 working in my new i7 W10 GTX-3070 system, which was a surprise for me.) Regards and thanks for the replies
  7. Ok. But have you actually tried FS98 in W10 with Direct9?. Because it seems Noone has got to work it yet in W10 with whatever approach. I could try to install DX9, but the thing is I have FS2000 working perfectly with 3d Acceleration in W10 with DirectX12 (Only in Window mode, but that's alright for me, and the first time I've got to do so. So I'll try better in another computer when I have time).
  8. Hi. I have W10 and DirectX12. I have managed FS98 to run following your "approach" (out of the standard folder "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator"). In my case it just starts but then it can't recognize any aircraft. It just shows Learjet but it even doesn't let me fly it. (Aircraft menu shows only Learjet and so short that I couldn' even capture it) Then, when I try to load the Learjet, it just crashes. Those are the captures of the path and what I can get. (There are a couple of intermediate screens like the 1st one that don't change much; the program just doesn't find the aircrafts he tries to use in the default flights). Regards.
  9. The thing is couldn't start it that way. Could you tell me which system do you have that it works with it?
  10. Hi. do you mean install FS98 in a Windows 10 enviroment folllowing that procedure and it works?
  11. Thanks for that. But I knew that program. Still there are many models that can't be repaired that way. Regards
  12. Hi. I have my FS98 installed in 32 bits W7 in an old PC and also in a VMWare Windows XP virtual machine in a new computer. (You are advising me flightsim/simviation for the ATC addon or for the Project Freeware aircraft?) Thanks again
  13. Hi. Thanks very much for your reply. Not easy to get one about these things. I try to do it, but the folder remains in Read-Only. (I will try to solve that). I wanted to ask you, by curiosity. Do you use FD99 or prefer another similar program for that matter? And also, I've seen you search for and get a lot of aircraft. I'm searching for a collection I saw time ago of Iberia models from Project Freeware FS98. Do you know where I could get them? Many thanks and regards
  14. Thanks again. Regards
  15. Hi all: As you can see, I have just posted a thread about an issue I have with Flight Director 99. And as I don't know how it will become, I thought maybe would be good to see what is working for you. So, for those of you who enjoy trying to get the best of your FS98, (regardless of opinions about how outdated it is, etc.), what programs do you use to add more realism to it, regarding the ATC environment/flight planning? I have read Radar Contact (2, as I think that's the version for FS98) is the real deal, but it seems there's nothing about it out there. I have also read Proflight 98 might do it for me, althought the reviews about it seem to be a little dissapointing, and anyway I haven't found a way to buy it (the couple of offers I found don't deliver to my place, Canary Islands). So, what applications, (or combination of them), work for you, being it freeware or payware? Thanks for your help and regards.
  16. Ok thanks very much. But do they come from other pages?. Or are they fligthsim files that have somehow being archived?
  17. Hi all. I bought Flight Director 99 from ebay and it sounds a great addon for Flight Planning and ATC flights enhancement (at least it seems it would enhance my flights enough). I have it installed in both W7 and also in a Virtual VMWare machine under XP in another PC. (In both PC's I have the same problems, though). The installing interface says they Microsoft Speech Engine Files are installed successfully, but tells to restart the PC, and after doing that, the program doesn't acknolegde them to have been installed, so it "invites" me to repeat the process again and again. Then, I have found 2 different situations. The program lets me begin the flight in ATC mode or not. In second case, it says it has to install the files, and doesn't let me flight without installing them. In first case, however, it lets me run the flight, but when the only things I get to hear are this 2 WAV files which are located in main FD99 folder. (CLICK.wav and HASH2.wav), but I can't imagine that's either the folder were the proper wavs/files should be. Are there any of you familiar with FD 99 (or FD98 for that matter), that can help me? The additional problem I have is: I don't know what does files are, neither where they should be installed!! All I know is all this thing is driving me crazy, so, maybe if you have other options to enhance FS98 with ATC, could you tell me?. I'd also be very grateful. Thanks and regards.
  18. Sorry, I don't know about that download. I'm not too much into military. But in ebay/picclicks. there are loads of military fs98 addons. I don't know if you consider trying there. (BTW, what is FTP archive?)
  19. Hi all: The question I have is basically about making a FS2002 scenery work in FS2000. The scenery I bought (via ebay) is "Just Flight British Airpors Central England", knowing it's meant for FS2002, but i believed was quite compatible for FS2000 (as I know it comes from Gary Summons UK2000 FS2000/2002). And that's how it worked out in FS2000, but there are some static aircraft and textures which display as black. as opposite to the rest, which work perfectly. So when I got into the BMP files, I found that the non-visible ones, are the ones which had a smaller size 42 KB vs 65 KB (standard 256x256 BMP), and the former were not visible by normal editing programs (like Paint). (Of course in FS2002 they all work fine) So do any of you know what is what makes FS2002 capable of displaying those textures that FS2000 cannot?. And if there is any way to make those textures visible? (Here I upload a capture of those black textures in the scenery, and another one from the scenery Texture Folder, (an extract of the 320 textures), so that you can distinguish in the folder ones from the others. (You can see some aircraft you are displayable, but others (ie. BAW A320, you can't see the taii textures, so they won't display in FS2000. But will in FS2002).) Thanks and regards.
  20. Hi, now that you say it, yes, the panels of my laptop might be also cut in half in FULLSCREEN. I recall now to have found a solution, but maybe it's just that I changed to Window screen, but then again, it seems to have worked by just resizing it to a full screen size, as for me I don't remember to have anything to solve about that; anyway I will chech again and tell you, as I don't have it with me now. Apart from that, it seems I got it to work in several other more or less new PC's, even without the cut panels issue. Regards.
  21. Hi, I don't think I have, but I have several CD's with FS5.1 utilities, so I will check
  22. Hi thanks very much for the reply. I think we can help ourselves First, I've got to work FS2000 in a rather good and new Windows 10 laptop and it runs fine. It is an Intel I7 1195G7 2.90 Ghz with 16 GB RAM Graphic card is Intel Iris Xe Graphics. About your Windows 7 FS2000. Which processor and graphic card do you have? Do you think I could work with an advanced I7 CP with an Nvidia GTX 3070? Because I wanted to make a partition on it with W7 if there are chances. Thanks and regards.
  23. Hi David. Many thanks. I already ordered by Amazon. Seems to have less addons but in ebay was impossible, so I was lucky
  24. Well, I don't know if those were downloadable or buyable via email. Anyway, I've been searching in ebay, and everytime it's more difficult there. Besides, the addons I'm most interested are UK2000 sceneries for FS2000/FS2002 (Those were compatible). Do you think there are old UK2000 pages with downloadable sceneries available in Web-Archive? Thanks and regards again.
