  1. Indeed, it works perfect for FS2000. I can confirm that there are no more panel issues :D I did not know about the ingame overlay, good tip! Thanks a lot for the explanation on the titlebar fix, this seems like an excellent workaround for getting FS2000 in the air problem-free! I do however not have any significant stuttering issues or slowdowns in full screen mode, either with or without narzouls DDRAW.DDL. Maybe some versions of FS2000 are more prone to this than others.
  2. Cool! Papyrus made the best racing sims back then! I also fly JetFighter III in DOSbox Daum with 3dfX! One of the best combat sims of its time, sadly overlooked. The feeling of speed in that game is better than any of its peers.
  3. That is a great discovery, thanks for the tip! I actually already have some Narzoul's ddraw compatibility DLLs as they work wonders for other games too, I seem to remember having tried it before without luck in FS2000. However, I see he released a new version 23 days ago, so if that fixes FS2000 it is awesome!
  4. You and me both! This problem is just bizarre, and I have tried to get around this in a lot of ways to no avail.. The only way it shows the full panel is in windowed mode, which gets tiresome after a while. It worked fine in windows 7, but nothing seems to cure the issue in 10.
  5. This picture is from a different review on flightsim.com, but it shows what I believe is an FS5.1 addon sold by Peter Kruesi in 1997 called Boeing B757 Reality Package. There is zero information on it online, except for some references in an old discussion forum. I am hoping that someone here still has these files in their archives! :) Are you there Peter Kruesi?
  6. It is a strange error, I have tried many possible solutions, wrappers, etc.. But no.. If you have a different solution than to change window size, do let me know. I feel it must be some DirectX issue. :) I too did this, I remember I made a "template" wallpaper in windows with different "boxes" of varying resolutions. So to play in 1024 x 768 I resized FS2000 to those boundaries.. haha
  7. Hi ED_4! Thanks for replying, I know that it is sold digitally now by some companies who have bought the rights, GOG for example. But I don't buy from them or any other such firm. They don't include all original material, update versions, and they are often overpriced. I do own the 256 color VGA version on CD-ROM, have played it for 12 years in DOSbox. The version I am requesting is the rare 16 color EGA version of the same game. It saw an independent and seemingly limited release on 5 1/4" floppys. This version is not included in any modern re-release, neither digital or physical. It is not avalable for sale anywhere, nor does it exist in any form online. I have scoured everywhere. Very rarely do I see a version for sale on ebay, but I don't have a 5 1/4" floppy drive, nor the computer hardware to connect one. I am really hoping that someone out there has this version and the means to extract the disks, or has already done so. The version is unique and has a different feel visually from the VGA version. By the way, I love your avatar! :)
  8. Good to hear you got it working! I wish I could get my panels to not cut in half in fullscreen in W10. Must be the integrated graphic chipset in my newest HP laptop.. Hmm, about my Win 7 machine, it is a 2012 model Lenovo G580 Intel i5 with integrated intel graphics. Old now but still really fast machine. I am not sure about the hardware you describe, I guess it depends on wether there are Win 7 drivers for it around. :)
  9. Does anyone still have these panels from FlightSoft, for FS5.1? They are impossible to obtain anymore, anywhere... Any help would be appreciated. I have lots of FS5 software to offer in return. There were reviews of them on this very site: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?256-As-Real-As-Can-Be-777-Collection https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?1317-As-Real-As-Can-Be-Jetliners-Panels The complete package with the airliners and all would of course be welcome.

  11. A late reply, but I just wanted to share my experience with FS2000.. First off, it will run perfect in Windows 7. I had no issues at all when I had Windows 7 on my machines. 3d accel, and all else is fine. On to Windows 10, I have tried everything to get 3D to work properly. It will in windowed mode but as soon as I go fullscreen all panels are cut in half, and nothing seems to remedy it. It won't recognize nGlide and I have had no luck with DXWnd. Windows 10 just doesn't co-operate with FS2000. And I don't want to squint at a small window. Note that I have tested with many different DirectX wrappers and workarounds that usually makes other old gems work. I have tried running FS2000 with VMware Pro, with both Win 98 and Win XP. Using Win98, VMware does not support 3d accel, so one is stuck with a jerky software mode. It runs poorly too. VMware supports 3D accel when running XP, but FS2000 is all messed up at least for me. Jerky, garbled graphics, just bad. This might be because emulating both Windows XP AND running Fs2000 on top of it might be a bit too much for VMware, and in turn my laptop. It is a really difficult sim to run these days, which is sad because FS2000 is a favourite of mine. It has great atmosphere. My experience is that having a dedicated laptop for Windows 7 / FS2000 is the way to go. :)
  12. Hi Mic, I think your best bet is Cool Edit Pro 2. This old workhorse will run fine in windows 10. It does .voc and a lot of other formats. I use it regularely for sound modding old games requiring certain old sound specs, like FS5.1 and Dynamix' Aces of the Deep. Does flawless looping.
  13. Yes I have it, I have almost all addons for FS5. Unfortunately I do not have Pilot in Command 767, but I have a load of others for FS2000. PM sent to you.
  14. Does anyone happen to have the checklist for a Baron 56TC? And if so, would you be willing to share it with me? I have managed to find one for the E55, but since the 56TC had more horsepower I would assume some different speeds at various stages, etc..? :pilot: I need one for a 56TC panel I am making.
  15. Nice review Gabshall! I hope to see more retro reviews from you :) Good work aso on the Luftwaffe Collection review. I have it as well, many nice planes in that package.
  16. Completely impossible to find anything on the PropellerHead Design Cessna and Piper FlightLine panels now, let alone a download or their website (if they had one). Someone must surely have them, seeing as they were reviewed here back in 1997. Can anyone please help me out? I have almost all addons for FS5.1 to offer in return. https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?1273-PROPELLERhead-PhD-Panels I would also appreciate if anyone would share with me VIP/Kenneth Kerrs registered panels for FS5. Impossible to register now.:pilot:
  17. Can anyone help me out with this? I can do a lot with scbuild but I would like to have the old ASD for FS5/95. Have a lot of stuff to offer in return.
  18. Finally found the FS5 install files for Sublogic USA West. It works, apart from some small issues like noe tower or external view, and it does not like slewing. But it works in FS5.0! (not fs5.1) Sublogics USA scenery is a thing of beauty compared to FS5s standard world and flickering textures, but together with FS5s gradient horizon, clouds and sunrise and sunset, this really shines! Here are some pics over San Francisco at early morning, and towards Sacramento.
  19. More progression! Seeing as the original Cessna 411 has a lot of unused space on the upper panel, I chose to go with an approximation of the 411 and 402 to make better use of screen real estate. This should make the panel usable for twins like the 402, 411 and 414. All the pictures I have found of those twins from that era shows a big variation in layout and panel configurations. With that in mind I have tried to make the panel as analog, useful, pretty and in line with real life pictures as possible. I did raise the viewpoint a bit so to speak, so now the glareshield appears a bit thinner. Many graphic elements I have converted myself from pictures and repainted. Unfortunately I could not find a way to keep the radio stack as I first wanted it, with my custom Bendix/King graphics, so I had to compromise and use the standard layout for the radio part. But it worked out nice, and the radio panel has its own custom textured backpanel. Also, it is neccesary to have access to throttle and mixture levers, as well as flaps. Many of the gauges and gauge graphics are FS5.1 originals, albeit retouched. I also added the small "plane" graphic in the heading indicator as seen in the 411. Additionally, I have borrowed and modified a few graphic elements from Marc Suxdorf and Kenneth Kerr. The chronometer .gau is from Peter Kruesis JU-52 and works perfectly with the buttons on the side, but the Davtron gauge graphics I have converted myself from a real picture and drawed further. So we now have working flight time stopwatch in the panel. The gear icon I have made myself, and is animated. The RPM gauge works nicely, and sits over the radio panel like on many 4xx panels. The manifold pressure gauge beside it is just eye candy, there is unfortunately no such .gau in FS5, also it is out of bounds anyway. But you get the impression. If anyone wants to help me make .gau files, please contact me. The back panel is easily changable and I have already nice textured versions in black, grey and 402 blue. All gauges are now in their right places and are working as they should. Almost all nighttime bleedthrough is eliminated. I've tested a lot and reworked what needed to be fixed, and made many improvements and cleaning up graphics. This is a fun panel to fly with, and fits very well with Terry Hills Cessna 411 or Tekmates 414. There is no TAB switching, everything you need is in one panel. Except for a credit page I am working on, and I want a checklist page as well. Does anyone have the checklist for a 411 / 402?
  20. There is zero documentation available online for how one can edit gauges in FS5. And I don't mean the .pix graphic files, I mean the gauge files themselves. I have Trindle's documentation, but it does not go into that. And the available tools won't let me edit .gau files. Any tips from old panel programmers? I need to change the placement of certain panel elements.
  21. I wanted a panel for Terry Hills excellent Cessna 411, which I like flying, so I started experimenting. Got the panel graphics working for testing. Haven't coordinated the .gau files yet. But this is just a start. Nice thing is you can just drag the panel down for enjoying the scenery, and drag it up for a nice full instrument panel. Throttle "levers" and gear switches will not be visible on this panel, as far as my plans go. Any chance anyone could help me make a gauge that displays only the OMI lights?
  22. So, nearing completion now. On testing I found bleedthrough in the panel of some lights/colors, like sequence lights on approach. After reducing the shades of dark grey in the panel this problem went away. Some additional graphical fixes / cleanup has been done on the upper panel as well. I also made a new OMI indicator, based on the SimuFlite poster one. It has to stay where it is though. Just for looks I added some graphics to the engine panel, like the emergency brake beside the "throttle levers", as well as reset buttons and bulbs for the generator. I am quite satisfied with the detail so far, at the same time I don't want to cram the panel full. I welcome all opinions and suggestions.
  23. I suddenly discovered a major oversight on my part.. The upper "dash" panel and centerpost as you can see in my posts above, was in wrong scale compared to the lower instrument panel. Centerpost should be approx. above the outer right engine gauge, and the upper panel should be more to the right. All of the upper panel should be more zoomed in, so to speak. Cannot believe I did not catch this before.. But this has now been corrected, and a lot of fixes and various art has been added or changed. The engine start/off/gen panel now has animated switches. The spoiler also has an animated switch. The flaps indicator now looks like the real deal, and I have tried to get all of the panel to resemble the actual Learjet 35A, as close as possible within FS5.1 without making new .gau files.
