  1. Once you get things working DO NOT CHANGE A THING! When I did the initial install my yoke, throttles, rudder pedals, gaming chair WITH volume, and vibration chair were all working automatically. My first flight just minutes after a 4 hour download. I was getting 60fps on Maximum settings with zero issues. The reason I still have zero issues is I DON'T tinker with stuff. Do you think I'm changing any key assignments??? Nope. Waiting for the VR version so won't need any key assignments. Do you think I am switching out my yoke for my thruster? Nope. Will fly GA planes with Yokes probably forever. I may fly the odd jet but not going to risk switching my controls...will just yoke fly the airbus. Do you think I am messing with scaling, antialiasing, texture resolutions etc? Nope. Those (fsx) days are over. Do you think I am messing with my monitor settings? Nope. Do you think I am messing with my video card settings? Nope. When I start up my (dedicated) simming computer there is a procedure I follow every time, in a certain order. Tower, Windows, Gaming chair, Precision software, Steam, MSFS 2020/aerofly fs2. I do the reverse when shutting down. EVERY TIME.
  2. Does getting the steam version save disk space? I use steam for Aeroflight fs2 and I like it. Never crashed and loads up fast, auto updates...so I'm leaning towards steam for msfs2020 unless there is some advantages to getting the direct download?
  3. Ya that's why I always go with the best version.
  4. This was talked about on some YouTube video and it is a difficult blend...but they are working on it.
  5. Sure it's your perogotive but if I recall with fsx....those that only got the standard edition at some point had to add the acceleration package that deluxe owners did not...for an fps improvement
  6. I think that's your problem. On the Microsoft requirements they have: Windows 10 Nov 2019 update (1909)
  7. I can't believe that some people are saying they are going to get the standard or deluxe versions...and not the premium deluxe? If you can afford the PC needed to run MSFS2020 you can afford another $60 to get premium deluxe with ALL the hand crafted airports included.
  8. I just gotta say...as good as the scenery is in MSFT2020...it will be REALLY hard giving up VR flight and going back to trackIR. I just did a hop in Aerofly fs2 in VR...full IFR approach in IMC conditions. Epic...you can't beat the realism especially with the rocker chair where you even feel the bump of the landing gear retracting. It also helps with throttling when coming in on final, because you can feel the effect of the throttle, not just hear it. I use a proflight yoke and TMP throttles when flying VR. Anyway, the moral of the story here is IFR in VR is actually better. Anyway looking forward to MSFS 2020 VR version!
  9. Ya start by not getting a laptop...get a desktop. Checkout jetline systems as they specialize in flight sim PCs https://jetlinesystems.com/ If you want a custom build then check out ibuypower or Cyberpowerpc
  10. Are they ever going to update this? They all flook and function like they were made in the 80s. The whole FMC interface could be changed to a simple touchscreen display with icons.
  11. The video was showing the navigraph charts app...not built in.
  12. It probably will for career pilots might decrease the amount of hobby pilots..no reason to fly in the real world anymore unless you actually have to get somewhere. Why take the inherent risk, cost etc for just a hobby when you can fly online. I enjoy flying in the sim but have zero interest in getting a pilots licence. Can't wait to fly around in MSFS 2020!
  13. That's how I'm going to fly msfs2020 for now...with a 50" curved gaming monitor...proflight yoke, TPM, rudder pedals, rocker chair. Went flying for a bit but it lacks the immersion of VR. I am completely aware that I am flying in my basement at all times. So I did a nice IFR flight in aerofly fs2 instead.
  14. So these are out traffic options? Live Flight-aware traffic data downloaded into the sim so we are flying with real world planes? Cool! AI traffic for the purposes of using ATC. Live traffic of other players flying online. Is this correct?
  15. Some discussions amd versus nvidia for fsx: https://www.overclock.net/forum/74-graphics-cards-general/1615361-amd-vs-nvidia-gpus-fsx.html https://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/1/1354868867715007609/ Here they are head to head: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2080-Ti-vs-AMD-RX-Vega-64LC-Liquid-Cooled/4027vsm353890 https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2080-Ti-vs-AMD-RX-5700-XT/4027vs4045 Check out jetline systems who specialize in FS computers...they all use NVIDIA cards. I know one of the beta testers on youtube said he was using a jetline system. https://jetlinesystems.com/product/gravity-gtx/
  16. Good point. With steam all the updates are handled...if I buy from MS am I going to have to keep track of, and manually install all updates? Like with fsx service pack 1 and service pack 2 etc? Those 2 updates were crucial to my fps.
  17. Ya looks like I'll trackir it until the vr update...then will pick up a G2 as well.
  18. This is cool...VR getting better and better...I might give the G2 a try in msfs2020. Anybody using the G2?
  19. What ever happened to head tracking in 3d? I only see trackir5 on Amazon...no new models in over a decade? I already have a trackir5 somewhere in storage so I'll dig it out for now...
  20. Ok...so all of you think I'm some sort of VR fanboy, but I'm the one who was using trackir 4 long before most of you AND I have a full cockpit build with 10 physical gages...I have also had projector screens. All have their benefits...but VR is no question the best option (for me) That said I don't know when the VR version is coming out so I am going with trackir until then. Have there been any improvements to track IR since trackir5? Aren't we at trackir8 by now? I just checked in Amazon and only see trackir5.
