  1. With my current hardware setup I enjoy a wonderful (for ME) flight sim experience with MSFS2020. The best ever for Microsoft IMHO. I'm a happily retired 75 yr old and have been with MS Flight since day one back in the 80's. I too am anxiously awaiting MSFS2024 and will purchase it without hesitation. I continue to be mildly amused by 1st time posters whose sole purpose seems to be bashing this sim. Kinda like joining a Popeye's Chicken fan forum to rave about hamburgers. It is to laugh.
  2. Don't feel it necessary to couch your comments in 'code'.... how do you really feel about the sim?
  3. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the original poster has likely already resolved this problem from 2021? But as a former funeral director/embalmer I do enjoy a nice necropost now and then.
  4. I appreciate that new gaming hardware is not cheap, but for ME the best money I've spent in improving and enhancing the flight sim experience has been buying the improved 240hz IR tracker from Grassmonkey. It has wireless operation, puts no great extra demand on your computer's resources like a VR headset does, at $115 it's half the cost of other head tracker systems and the small shop owner/operator provides exceptional customer service. Whether in the cockpit or an outside view where I turn my head to look is what I see on the computer monitor. Makes it 'feel' like I'm sitting in the cockpit yet unrestricted view of the keyboard and no fumbling with the top hat switch. NO, I don't work for Grassmonkey. I'm just a VERY satisfied customer. Grassmonkey IR tracker Worth a look-see anyway IMHO. Not the total immersion offered by the rather expensive VR headsets and advanced computer needed to run VR, but it's still a big step up in simming.
  5. It begs the question - How many reactions to posts did you make that session?
  6. If you are going to go the 2020 sim option, you won't go wrong selecting a desktop system that exceeds the Recommended specs. If you plan on using VR that requires even more power. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Recommended Requirements CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or better RAM: 16 GB VIDEO CARD: Radeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 970 DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 4096 MB PIXEL SHADER: 5.1 VERTEX SHADER: 5.1 OS: Windows 10 64-bit FREE DISK SPACE: 150 GB
  7. Another vote for the Extreme Pro. A highly capable piece of hardware for just $30. I also think that were I buying a new desktop now? I'd wait to see the hardware requirements for MSFS 2024 and get whatever is at least 'Mid' range hardware. Flight sims are data/graphics thirsty rascals -lol
  8. That is an older model desktop(note the Windows 10). I did see they have a newer version available but it is near double your specified budget. I do agree that 16mb Ram and perhaps a 500gb or 1TB NVMe SSD? With MSFS 2024 coming relatively soon, I might consider waiting till the specs for that are available before making a PC purchase.
  9. You might want to ask this in the MS2004 forum?
  10. Wrong forum - this is for the upcoming new MSFS 2024
  11. Did the update yesterday and today - their servers WERE slow, as expected with the planet all trying to update at the same time, but no negative issues were encountered and all is well again in my flight sim world.
  12. How "techie" is your pilot in training? It is relatively simple to unbox and set up a PC and flight sim hardware. I submit that if I can do it? Anybody can. And knowing someone was willing to drop $4-$5K on MY present would fer darn sure motivate me to get it done right or find a buddy who could -lol I'll assume you realize that VR requires a higher level PC machine to run well. Best wishes for his journey to PIC.
  13. OK, here goes MY 'DUMB' question..... are there commands on the full keyboard list that you would not be able to execute on your laptop? At least 18 keys on my full size desktop keyboard ARE duplicates found elsewhere on the keyboard. Just wunderin'.
  14. Any idjit knows it 'should' be "two other users are be here?"............... assuming they're pirates.
  15. Your Thrustmaster joystick has the twist handle for rudder control. When I don't feel like plugging in my Logitech full setup with pedals, I just use my Extreme 3D Pro stick which also has that feature.
  16. I'm not exactly sure how this line of questioning directly involves the yet to be released MSFS 2024?
  17. "Nothing you do is going to speed up the MS servers or eliminate the hundreds of users also trying to update today." More like a gazzilion users I'm thinkin'.
  18. I'm having zero negative issues running Windows 11, I have auto-update set to run at about 2:00a.m. This recent update was kinda slow yesterday, but I am certain it had to do with a bazillion fellow users hitting their servers at the same time at prime time. I too let it run while I attended to my dinner prep and eating of same. The download was competed by the time my tummy was full.
  19. i don't know which would be the correct forum to post this question, but I'm sure it isn't this one which is intended solely for MSFS 2024.
  20. Points well taken. Unfortunately the ONLY info anyone has about anything MSFS 2024 related comes from the press releases Microsoft has made.
  21. Sounds very conclusive IMHO - if this is not a proprietary cable but a standard USB 3 do you have any others you can try in its place? For as 'pricey' as that Pimax is, you think they'd use very high quality components. You have every right to be displeased with their less than stellar customer service response so far.
  22. I suspect we are ALL anxiously awaiting some hard info on FS2024. Cost, computer system requirements, features etc.
